Liv Kristine Espenæs (born 14 February 1976), better known as Liv Kristine, is a Norwegian singer-songwriter who has performed and composed songs mostly for various subgenres of heavy metal music. She started her career in the music industry as a vocalist for the gothic metal band Theatre of Tragedy, and is the former lead vocalist for the symphonic metal band Leaves' Eyes. She is known for her work in close association with her then-husband and leader of the German band Atrocity, Alexander Krull. Currently she is a singer of a German band Midnattsol alongside her younger sister Carmen Elise Espenæs.

Weltenbrand - Career - Netflix

Liv Kristine was born in Stavanger, and joined the Norwegian gothic metal band Theatre of Tragedy in 1994 as a backup singer, but was soon sharing lead vocals duties with Raymond István Rohonyi. She was fired from Theatre of Tragedy in 2003, a fact she learned about through the band's website. She had been living in Germany since 1996 and collaborating with the death metal band Atrocity, whose singer Alexander Krull she married on 3 July 2003. With the five musicians from Atrocity she formed a new band, Leaves' Eyes, in August 2003. She has also released five solo albums, the most recent of which was released in October 2014 through Napalm Records. Kristine has a soprano vocal range. In 2005, Liv Kristine was nominated for a Grammy award with Cradle of Filth for the song “Nymphetamine”. In 2016, Liv joined Eluveitie as a session vocalist for a couple of their live shows. On April 16, 2016, Leaves' Eyes stated that Liv Kristine, who formed and had the idea of the band project, was no longer the singer of the band. In December 2017 it was announced that Liv joins her sister Carmen's band Midnattsol. She was originally announced to be a guest on their new album but after some discussions, the band picked her up as a permanent member.

Sankt Maik - Götz Kubitschek - Netflix

Götz Kubitschek (German pronunciation: [gœt͡s 'kuːbit͡ʃɛk]; born 17 August 1970) is a German publisher, journalist and right-wing political activist. Kubitschek espouses ethnocentric positions and is one of the most important protagonists of the Neue Rechte (New Right) in Germany. Hailing from the staff of right-wing newspaper Junge Freiheit, Kubitschek is one of the founders of the Neue Rechte think tank Institut für Staatspolitik (Institute for National Policy; IfS). Since 2002, he is the manager of his self-founded publishing house Antaios, since 2003 chief editor of the journal Sezession, as well as editor of the corresponding blog Sezession im Netz. He initiated several small-scale rightist political campaigns like the Konservativ-Subversive Aktion (KSA) and Ein Prozent für unser Land (One Percent For Our Country). According to observers, he was also instrumental in the conceptual consolidation of the German branch of the Identitarian movement, commonly viewed as far-right. In 2015, he appeared several times as the main speaker at rallies of the right-wing populist PEGIDA movement in the German state of Saxony. Furthermore, he is in contact with East German members of the right-wing populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

Sankt Maik - Speaking at PEGIDA rallies - Netflix

Kubitschek appeared in 2015 together with his family as the main speaker at three rallies of LEGIDA, PEGIDA's Leipzig offshoot. The first time together with Jürgen Elsässer, responsible for the conspiracist, Third Positionist magazine Compact. Both activists stated that the rallies were also about “criticism of the [political] system”. In January, he presented a position paper on “Immigration and Identity”, using 'integration' as a combat term after the sociologist de:Annette Treibel-Illian had proposed that, for integration in a multi-cultural society, native people should also make an effort. Kubitschek also spoke as the main orator at PEGIDA rallies in Dresden, e.g. next to the Dutch right-wing populist Geert Wilders. He stated to see himself as a kind of “middleman” between the PEGIDA movement's local branches. He also tried to find common ground with Elsässer at a Compact event. The scholar of far-right extremism de:Olaf Sundermeyer concluded from his call for “civil disobedience” at a Dresden rally in autumn 2015 that he would elevate the “violent protest at Heidenau to an example for others”. Although he distanced himself from violence, Pfahl-Traughber states that his “political rigorism” was obvious. Kubitschek, among others, is supposed to have provided PEGIDA supporters “with arguments for islamophobic and xenophobic discourse”. Dresden-based political scientist de:Hans Vorländer claimed that he advocated “völkisch positions”, making the Identitarians compatible with the political mainstream. Other experts called him a “mentor of PEGIDA” and that he “contributed massively to radicalise the racist PEGIDA movement”. His appearances with PEGIDA have boosted his prominence significantly. In February 2015, Kubitschek appeared in Italy as a guest of Matteo Salvini at a mass rally of his party, the right-wing populist, regionalist and xenophobic Lega Nord, where he was introduced as a PEGIDA representative.

Jerks - Jerk (cooking) - Netflix

Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica, in which meat is dry-rubbed or wet marinated with a hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice. It was originally developed by African slaves who fled into the wilds of Jamaica when the British captured the island from Spain in 1655. Adapting to their new surroundings, the slaves made use of the natural food sources available to them, creating the spicy sauce and slowly cooking the meat over a smoking wood fire. Nowadays, the smoky taste of the meat is achieved using various alternative cooking methods, including the use of modern wood burning ovens. The meat is normally, but not limited to, chicken or pork, and the main ingredients of the spicy jerk marinade sauce are allspice (known as “pimento” in Jamaica) and scotch bonnet peppers. Jerk cooking is popular in Caribbean/West Indian communities throughout North America and Western Europe.

Jerks - Etymology - Netflix

The word jerk is said to come from charqui, a Spanish term of Quechua origin for jerked or dried meat, which eventually became the word jerky in English. Jerk is also derived from the action of “jerking”, which referred to poking meat with holes so that flavor could more easily be absorbed. The term jerk spice (also commonly known as Jamaican jerk spice) refers to a spice rub. The word jerk refers to the spice rub, wet marinade, and to the particular cooking technique. Jerk cooking has developed a following in the United States, Canadian and Western European cosmopolitan urban centres with Caribbean/West Indian communities.

Heimat - Heimat (film series) - Netflix

Heimat is the title of a series of films, for a total of 32 episodes, written and directed by Edgar Reitz, which view life in Germany between 1840s to 2000 through the eyes of a family from the Hunsrück area of the Rhineland. Personal and domestic life is set against glimpses of wider social and political events. The combined length of the 32 films is 59 hours and 32 minutes, making it one of the longest series of feature-length films in cinema history. The title Heimat (pronounced [ˈhaɪmat]) is a German word, often expressed with terms such as “homeland” or “home place”, but it has been alleged that the word has no English equivalent. Usage has come to include that of an ironic reference to the film genre known as Heimatfilm which was popular in Germany in the 1950s. Heimat films were characterized by rural settings, sentimental tone and simplistic morality. Aesthetically, all three series are notable for their frequent switching between color and black-and-white film to convey different emotional states. In 1987, it won a BAFTA for “Foreign Television Programme”. The first film was released in 1984 with a followup in 1993. A direct sequel to the original film was released in 2003. In 2006, a film was released that created a narrative by featuring unused footage and outtakes. A prequel film to the original was released in 2013.

Heimat - Heimat - Netflix

Heimat, the original series, premiered in 1984 and follows the life of Maria Simon (Marita Breuer), a woman living in the fictional village of Schabbach (the village of Woppenroth in Rhein-Hunsrück, a very rural region of Germany to the west of the Rhineland-Palatinate.) This area was used for filming. The film spans the years 1919 to 1982. Subtitled Eine Deutsche Chronik — A German Chronicle, it consists of 11 episodes running in total to 15 hours 24 minutes of screen time and depicts how the events of German history affect the Simon family and the community in which they lived. At the start of each episode, Glasisch Karl narrates the story so far over photographs by Eduard Simon.

Mila - Brit milah - Netflix

The brit milah (Hebrew: בְּרִית מִילָה‬, pronounced [bʁit miˈla]; Ashkenazi pronunciation: [bʁis ˈmilə], “covenant of circumcision”; Yiddish pronunciation: bris [bʀɪs]) is a Jewish religious male circumcision ceremony performed by a mohel (“circumciser”) on the eighth day of the infant's life. The brit milah is followed by a celebratory meal (seudat mitzvah).

Mila - Milah l'shem giur - Netflix

A Milah L'shem giur is a “Circumcision for the purpose of conversion”. In Orthodox Judaism, this procedure is usually done by adoptive parents for adopted boys who are being converted as part of the adoption or by families with young children converting together. It is also required for adult converts who were not previously circumcised, e.g. those born in countries where circumcision at birth is not common. The conversion of a minor is valid in both Orthodox and Conservative Judaism until a child reaches the age of majority (13 for a boy, 12 for a girl); at that time the child has the option of renouncing his conversion and Judaism, and the conversion will then be considered retroactively invalid. He must be informed of his right to renounce his conversion if he wishes. If he does not make such a statement, it is accepted that the boy is halakhically Jewish. Orthodox rabbis will generally not convert a non-Jewish child raised by a mother who has not converted to Judaism. The laws of conversion and conversion-related circumcision in Orthodox Judaism have numerous complications, and authorities recommend that a rabbi be consulted well in advance. In Conservative Judaism, the Milah l'Shem giur procedure is also performed for a boy whose mother has not converted, but with the intention that the child be raised Jewish. This conversion of a child to Judaism without the conversion of the mother is allowed by Conservative interpretations of halakha. Conservative Rabbis will authorize it only under the condition that the child be raised as a Jew in a single-faith household. Should the mother convert, and if the boy has not yet reached his third birthday, the child may be immersed in the mikveh with the mother, after the mother has already immersed, to become Jewish. If the mother does not convert, the child may be immersed in a mikveh, or body of natural waters, to complete the child's conversion to Judaism. This can be done before the child is even one year old. If the child did not immerse in the mikveh, or the boy was too old, then the child may choose of their own accord to become Jewish at age 13 as a Bar Mitzvah, and complete the conversion then. The ceremony, when performed l'Shem giur, does not have to be performed on a particular day, and does not override Shabbat and Jewish Holidays. In Orthodox Judaism, there is a split of authorities on whether the child receives a Hebrew name at the Brit ceremony or upon immersion in the Mikvah. According to Zichron Brit LeRishonim, naming occurs at the Brit with a different formula than the standard Brit Milah. The more common practice among Ashkenazic Jews follows Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, with naming occurring at immersion. Where the procedure was performed but not followed by immersion or other requirements of the conversion procedure (e.g., in Conservative Judaism, where the mother has not converted), if the boy chooses to complete the conversion at Bar Mitzvah, a Milah l'shem giur performed when the boy was an infant removes the obligation to undergo either a full brit milah or hatafat dam brit.

Nature Tech - Technology tree - Netflix

In strategy computer games, a technology, tech, or research tree is a hierarchical visual representation of the possible sequences of upgrades a player can take (most often through the act of research). The diagram is tree-shaped in the sense that it branches between each 'level', allowing the player to choose one sequence or another. Each level is called a tier and is often used to describe the technological strength of a player. Typically, at the beginning of a session of a strategy game, a player will start at tier 1, and will only have a few options for technologies to research. Each technology that a player researches will open up one or more new options, but may or may not, depending on the computer game, close off the paths to other options. The tech tree is the representation of all possible paths of research a player can take, up to the culmination of said sequence. A player who is engaged in research activities is said to be “teching up,” “going up the tech tree,” or “moving up the tech tree.” Analysis of a tech tree can lead players to memorize and use specific build orders.

Der gleiche Himmel - Wanderer's Nightsong - Netflix

“Wanderer's Nightsong” (original German title: “Wandrers Nachtlied”) is the title of two poems by the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Written in 1776 (“Der du von dem Himmel bist”) and in 1780 (“Über allen Gipfeln”), they are among Goethe's most famous works. Both were first edited together in his 1815 Works Vol. I with the headings “Wandrers Nachtlied” and “Ein gleiches” (“Another one”). Both works were set to music as lieder by Franz Schubert as D 224 and D 768.

Der gleiche Himmel - Wanderer's Nightsong I - Netflix

The manuscript of “Wanderer's Nightsong” (“Der du von dem Himmel bist”) was among Goethe's letters to his friend Charlotte von Stein and bears the signature “At the slope of Ettersberg, on 12 Feb. 76”; supposedly it was written under the tree later called the Goethe Oak. One translation is by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: The tired wanderer probably impersonates Goethe himself, whose fame and fortune increasingly affected his creativity. The first line is a reference to the song of Nicolaus Zinzendorf “Der Du in dem himmel bist” [sic] (1742) about the Lord's Prayer “Our Father who art in heaven”. The German philologist Reinhard Breymayer has demonstrated this fact for the first time in 1998. Franz Schubert set the poem to music in 1815.

Survivor: Überwinde.Überliste.Überlebe (Survivor: Overcome. Outsmart. Survive!) is a German local season of Survivor. In Germany was broadcast by the Prosieben network in 2007. The prize for the winner is €250.000. From the beginning, the mass audience did not have an interest in the show. After the second week the ratings dropped significantly. A group of eighteen contestants were marooned on a desert island for 50 days and split into two tribes (Gunung and Tasik). For the first half of the game, the two tribes competed against each other in reward challenges and immunity challenges. The tribe that won the reward challenge received a special treat that made their life on the island more comfortable. The tribe that won the immunity challenge were completely safe from any eliminations for three days. Meanwhile, the tribe that lost the immunity challenge were forced to vote one of their own number off the island. Contestants were free to discuss and scheme about whom they wished to vote off, and many alliances were made and broken as the series went on.

After the first half of the game, the remaining members of the two tribes merged, and the game changed completely. Reward and immunity challenges were competed for on an individual basis, with the remaining contestants battling to prevent themselves from being voted off. After tribal merger, every contestant who was voted off joined a jury that decided who won the €250,000 prize. They were given the choice from the final two contestants.

The series has been broadcast in 120 countries worldwide.

Alarm for Cobra 11 - Plot - Netflix

The tasks of the Cobra 11 team consist primarily in solving crimes and catch the perpetrators. Typical elements of the action genre are mixed, so that there are regular car crashes, shootouts, explosions and fistfights. These action scenes are elaborately produced in most cases, and appropriately presented in a spectacular way. The high number of unrealistic scenes is a common criticism of the series; for example, large explosions often happen after small collisions while people emerge unharmed out of cars which have sustained catastrophic damage.

Die Harald Smidt Show - Social media - Netflix

Social media are computer-mediated technologies that facilitate the creation and sharing of information, ideas, career interests and other forms of expression via virtual communities and networks. The variety of stand-alone and built-in social media services currently available introduces challenges of definition; however, there are some common features: Social media are interactive Web 2.0 Internet-based applications. User-generated content, such as text posts or comments, digital photos or videos, and data generated through all online interactions, is the lifeblood of social media. Users create service-specific profiles for the website or app that are designed and maintained by the social media organization. Social media facilitate the development of online social networks by connecting a user's profile with those of other individuals or groups. Users typically access social media services via web-based technologies on desktop, computers, and laptops, or download services that offer social media functionality to their mobile devices (e.g., smartphones and tablet computers). When engaging with these services, users can create highly interactive platforms through which individuals, communities, and organizations can share, co-create, discuss, and modify user-generated content or pre-made content posted online. They “introduce substantial and pervasive changes to communication between organizations, communities, and individuals.” Social media changes the way individuals and large organizations communicate. These changes are the focus of the emerging fields of technoself studies. Social media differ from paper-based media (e.g., magazines and newspapers) to traditional electronic media such as TV broadcasting in many ways, including quality, reach, frequency, interactivity, usability, immediacy, and performance. Social media outlets operate in a dialogic transmission system (many sources to many receivers). This is in contrast to traditional media which operates under a monologic transmission model (one source to many receivers), such as a newspaper which is delivered to many subscribers, or a radio station which broadcasts the same programs to an entire city. Some of the most popular social media websites are Baidu Tieba, Facebook (and its associated Facebook Messenger), Google+, Myspace, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, Tumblr, Twitter, Viber, VK, WeChat, Weibo, WhatsApp, and Wikia. These social media websites have more than 100,000,000 registered users. In America, a 2015 survey reported that 71 percent of teenagers have a Facebook account. Over 60% of 13 to 17-year-olds have at least one profile on social media, with many spending more than two hours a day on social networking sites. According to Nielsen, Internet users continue to spend more time on social media sites than on any other type of site. At the same time, the total time spent on social media sites in the U.S. across PCs as well as on mobile devices increased by 99 percent to 121 billion minutes in July 2012 compared to 66 billion minutes in July 2011. For content contributors, the benefits of participating in social media have gone beyond simply social sharing to building a reputation and bringing in career opportunities and monetary income. Observers have noted a range of positive and negative impacts of social media use. Social media can help to improve individuals' sense of connectedness with real or online communities, and social media can be an effective communication (or marketing) tool for corporations, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, including advocacy groups and political parties and governments. At the same time, concerns have been raised about possible links between heavy social media use and depression, and even the issues of cyberbullying, online harassment and “trolling”. Currently, about half of young adults have been cyberbullied and of those, 20 percent said that they have been cyberbullied regularly. Another survey was carried out among 7th grade students in America, which is known as the Precaution Process Adoption Model. According to this study, 69 percent of 7th grade students claim to have experienced cyberbullying and they also said that it is worse than face to face bullying. However both the bully and the victim are negatively affected, the intensity, duration, and frequency are the three aspects that increase the negative effects on both of them

Die Harald Smidt Show - Criticisms - Netflix

Criticisms of social media range from criticisms of the ease of use of specific platforms and their capabilities, disparity of information available, issues with trustworthiness and reliability of information presented, the impact of social media use on an individual's concentration, ownership of media content, and the meaning of interactions created by social media. Although some social media platforms offer users the opportunity to cross-post simultaneously, some social network platforms have been criticized for poor interoperability between platforms, which leads to the creation of information silos, viz. isolated pockets of data contained in one social media platform. However, it is also argued that social media have positive effects such as allowing the democratization of the Internet while also allowing individuals to advertise themselves and form friendships. Others have noted that the term “social” cannot account for technological features of a platform alone, hence the level of sociability should be determined by the actual performances of its users. There has been a dramatic decrease in face-to-face interactions as more and more social media platforms have been introduced with the threat of cyber-bullying and online sexual predators being more prevalent. Social media may expose children to images of alcohol, tobacco, and sexual behaviors. In regards to cyber-bullying, it has been proven that individuals who have no experience with cyber-bullying often have a better well-being than individuals who have been bullied online. Twitter is increasingly a target of heavy activity of marketers. Their actions, focused on gaining massive numbers of followers, include use of advanced scripts and manipulation techniques that distort the prime idea of social media by abusing human trustfulness. Twitter also promotes social connections among students. It can be used to enhance communication building and critical thinking. Domizi (2013) utilised Twitter in a graduate seminar requiring students to post weekly tweets to extend classroom discussions. Students reportedly used Twitter to connect with content and other students. Additionally, students found it “to be useful professionally and personally”. British-American entrepreneur and author Andrew Keen criticizes social media in his book The Cult of the Amateur, writing, “Out of this anarchy, it suddenly became clear that what was governing the infinite monkeys now inputting away on the Internet was the law of digital Darwinism, the survival of the loudest and most opinionated. Under these rules, the only way to intellectually prevail is by infinite filibustering.” This is also relative to the issue “justice” in the social network. For example, the phenomenon “Human flesh search engine” in Asia raised the discussion of “private-law” brought by social network platform. Comparative media professor José van Dijck contends in her book “The Culture of Connectivity” (2013) that to understand the full weight of social media, their technological dimensions should be connected to the social and the cultural. She critically describes six social media platforms. One of her findings is the way Facebook had been successful in framing the term 'sharing' in such a way that third party use of user data is neglected in favour of intra-user connectedness.

Gladbeck - Netflix

August 16, 1988 - 8:04 am: someone calls in a breaking and entering at the Deutsche Bank subsidiary in Rentford-Nord, Gladbeck. As the police arrive with several patrol cars, what was planned as a simple robbery quickly turns into an armed robbery where hostages are taken. The police's Special Forces are unable to go in and the offer of six months incarceration by the DA does not seem like a valid option for Rösner and Degowski. They decline and after Rösner gives a telephone interview, his voice is identified. Flight is the only thing left to do for the perps. For 54 hours, the whole country holds its breath as the hostage crisis carries on, all the while every second of it is being broadcast via TV and radio as hordes of journalists stand by – crime live.

None of the involved police forces in several states seem to be prepared for a crime of this proportion – a stroke of luck not only for the criminals but also for the journalists who are getting close to them in ways which do not seem appropriate.

Gladbeck - Bundesautobahn 52 - Netflix

Bundesautobahn 52 (translates from German as Federal Motorway 52, short form Autobahn 52, abbreviated as BAB 52 or A 52) is an autobahn in western Germany. It starts at the Dutch-German border near the community of Niederkrüchten, district of Viersen. From Elmpt it runs northeast. Its westernmost part serves as an important commuter route into Düsseldorf. The autobahn becomes Bundesstraße 7 shortly before the Rheinkniebrücke, which leads into the Düsseldorf city centre. Traffic of the A 52 is routed through the Düsseldorf city centre on the B 8 and B 1 secondary roads up to Düsseldorf-Mörsenbroich, where the A 52 becomes a road of its own again. The autobahn has three parts: Dutch-German border - Niederkrüchten-Elmpt - Mönchengladbach - Düsseldorf-Heerdt Düsseldorf-Mörsenbroich - Dreieck Essen-Ost Gladbeck - Gelsenkirchen - Marl-Nord A new connection from the Dutch border to Elmpt opened in May 2009. An extension connecting the interchange Essen-Ost with the interchange Gladbeck has been proposed for several years, but has not been built yet, due to the need for several kilometers of tunnels below densely populated areas.
