Ramses - Netflix

Ramses is about the younger years of Ramses Shaffy and a bit about Joop Admiral and Liesbeth List. From the beginning years in the sixties till the end in the seventies. Within those years Ramses became a favourite of the Dutch theater, Established Shaffy Chantant and became a national hero, but those years brought him some miserable time too with drank and drugs. The years that Amsterdam is changing rapidly, the upswing of Flower Power, Free sex, drugs and a changing morale after those brave years in the fifties.

Ramses - Ramesses II - Netflix

Ramesses II (variously also spelt Rameses or Ramses; born c. 1303 BC; died July or August 1213 BC; reigned 1279–1213 BC), also known as Ramesses the Great, was the third pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty of Egypt. He is often regarded as the greatest, most celebrated, and most powerful pharaoh of the Egyptian Empire. His successors and later Egyptians called him the “Great Ancestor”. He is known as Ozymandias in the Greek sources, from a transliteration into Greek of a part of Ramesses' throne name, Usermaatre Setepenre, “The justice of Rê is powerful—chosen of Rê”. Ramesses II led several military expeditions into the Levant, reasserting Egyptian control over Canaan. He also led expeditions to the south, into Nubia, commemorated in inscriptions at Beit el-Wali and Gerf Hussein. The early part of his reign was focused on building cities, temples, and monuments. He established the city of Pi-Ramesses in the Nile Delta as his new capital and used it as the main base for his campaigns in Syria. At age fourteen, Ramesses was appointed Prince Regent by his father Seti I. He is believed to have taken the throne in his late teens and is known to have ruled Egypt from 1279 BC to 1213 BC. Manetho attributes Ramesses II a reign of 66 years and 2 months; most Egyptologists today believe he assumed the throne on May 31, 1279 BC, based on his known accession date of III Shemu day 27. Estimates of his age at death vary; 90 or 91 is considered most likely. Ramesses II celebrated an unprecedented 14 sed festivals (the first held after 30 years of a pharaoh's reign, and then, every three years) during his reign—more than any other pharaoh. On his death, he was buried in a tomb in the Valley of the Kings; his body was later moved to a royal cache where it was discovered in 1881, and is now on display in the Cairo Museum.

Ramses - Death and legacy - Netflix

By the time of his death, aged about 90 years, Ramesses was suffering from severe dental problems and was plagued by arthritis and hardening of the arteries. He had made Egypt rich from all the supplies and riches he had collected from other empires. He had outlived many of his wives and children and left great memorials all over Egypt. Nine more pharaohs took the name Ramesses in his honour.

Andere Tijden Sport - Career - Netflix

Burka was Dutch National Champion in 1946 and 1947 before becoming a coach in Toronto. Finding Canadian figure skating to be rigid and technical, she decided to blend it with ballet and modern dance, and introduced more imaginative choreography. She coached her daughter Petra Burka to a bronze medal for Canada at the 1964 Olympics and to the gold at the 1965 World Championships. In 1968, she became the coach of Toller Cranston, who won six Canadian national titles and the 1976 Olympic bronze medal. She also coached Dorothy Hamill, Elvis Stojko, Sandra Bezic / Val Bezic, Patrick Chan, Tracey Wainman, Christopher Bowman and many other world and Olympic competitors. In 1978, Burka was made Member of the Order of Canada “For elevating skating to an art form and for imaginative choreography on the ice”. In 1996, she was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. She was also inducted into the Canadian Figure Skating Hall of Fame, the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame and the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (October 2013). A documentary about Ellen Burka, Skate to Survive, was directed by her daughter Astra and premiered at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival in May 2008. Virtually unknown in her native Netherlands, her life story was captured in Andere Tijden Sport, a sports history program on Dutch national public TV, in January 2015. For this documentary, she returned to Amsterdam to visit her former family home and the Westerbork transit camp. Burka taught at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club and at The Granite Club in Toronto, Ontario.

De Rodenburgs - Vlaamse Televisie Sterren - Netflix

The Vlaamse Televisie Sterren (Dutch for “Flemish Television Stars”) are Flemish television awards, in fifteen categories. Winners are announced during an annual television show called Night of the Flemish Television Stars (Dutch: Nacht van de Vlaamse Televisie Sterren), which is an Oscar-style gala organised by the Flemish Television Academy (Vlaamse Televisie Academie). Each year categories are evaluated and adapted to the ever-changing trends of television if needed. Every ceremony is aired on television. The rights to the ceremony are shared by the two leading television stations in Flanders: public television station Eén and commercial station vtm. The show is co-hosted, but broadcast by only one of the two aforementioned channels in turn. The most recent ceremony was held on the second of March 2013 and aired by vtm. Night of the Flemish Television Stars first aired in 2008 and is a follow up to Het Gala van het Gouden Oog (Gala of the Golden Eye), which was last broadcast in 1998.

De Rodenburgs - Voting procedure - Netflix

Voting in the last categories proceeds in two steps: Members of the Academy nominate four favorites in each category. These results are processed into a general shortlist with 4 nominations in each category. In a second round of voting Academy members choose their personal favorites from the shortlist, in each category. The personality or program with the most votes wins the Vlaamse Televisie Ster.

Bartje - Baked beans - Netflix

Baked beans is a dish containing beans, sometimes baked but, despite the name, usually stewed, in a sauce. Most commercially canned baked beans are made from haricot beans, also known as navy beans (a variety of Phaseolus vulgaris) in a sauce. In Ireland and the United Kingdom, a tomato sauce is most commonly used, and they are commonly eaten on toast or as part of a full English, Scottish, or Irish Breakfast. American Boston baked beans use a sauce prepared with molasses and salt pork, the popularity of which has led to the city's being nicknamed “Beantown”. Beans in a tomato and brown sugar, sugar, or corn syrup sauce are widely available throughout the US. Canada's Quebec-style beans often use maple syrup. This style is also popular in states bordering Canada's Eastern provinces. Canned baked beans are used as a convenience food. They may be eaten hot or cold, straight from the can, as they are already fully cooked.

Opsporing Verzocht - Amsterdam sex crimes case - Netflix

The Amsterdam sex crimes case (Dutch: Amsterdamse zedenzaak) is a court case involving Robert Mikelson's abuse of babies in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The defendant was Roberts Mikelson, dubbed “the Monster of Riga” by the Dutch press, who had worked at several daycare centres in Amsterdam and was accused of abusing 67 children as well as possession, production and distribution of child pornography. Mikelson was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years and 11 months in prison, followed by involuntary commitment.

Opsporing Verzocht - Victims - Netflix

M confessed to the abuse of 83 young children, but he is charged with abuse of 67 because some of the parents preferred to keep their children out of the court records owing to privacy concerns. The youngest of these children was 19 days old at the time the acts were committed. The abuse took place at the child care facilities where M. worked, at the homes of the children he babysat, and at M. and Van O's home. M. admitted abusing the children and suggested, according to media reports, that more children might have been involved. According to the prosecution (Dutch: Openbaar Ministerie), M. carefully scouted his babysitting addresses for presence of heavy curtains and absence of nanny cams. He stopped the abuse when the children started to be able to talk.

Missie Aarde - List of loanwords in Indonesian - Netflix

The Indonesian language has absorbed many loanwords from other languages, including Sanskrit, Tamil, Hindi, Arabic, Persian, Portuguese, Dutch, Chinese and other Austronesian languages. Indonesian differs from the form of Malay used in Malaysia in a number of respects, primarily due to the different influences both languages experienced and also due to the fact that the majority of Indonesians speak another language as their mother tongue. Indonesia functioning as lingua franca for speakers of 200 various languages across the archipelago. Conversely, many words of Malay-Indonesian origin have also been borrowed into English. Words borrowed into English (e.g., bamboo, orangutan, dugong, amok, and even “cooties”) generally entered through Malay language by way of British colonial presence in Malaysia and Singapore, similar to the way the Dutch have been borrowing words from the various native Indonesian languages. One exception is “bantam”, derived from the name of the Indonesian province Banten in Western Java (see Oxford American Dictionary, 2005 edition). Another is “lahar” which is Javanese for a volcanic mudflow. Still other words taken into modern English from Malay/Indonesian probably have other origins (e.g., “satay” from Tamil, or “ketchup” from Chinese). At its development stage, various native terms (mostly Javanese) from all over the archipelago made its way to the language. The Dutch adaptation of the Malay language during colonial period had resulted significant amount of Dutch loanwords and vocabulary. The event significantly affected the original Malay language which gradually developed into the modern Indonesian language. Most terms are documented in Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia.

Missie Aarde - From Portuguese - Netflix

Alongside Malay, Portuguese was the lingua franca for trade throughout the archipelago from the sixteenth century through to the early nineteenth century. The Portuguese were among the first westerners to sail east to the “Spice Islands”. Loanwords from Portuguese were mainly connected with articles the early European traders and explorers brought to Southeast Asia.

60 jaar Songfestival - Eurovision Song Contest 2005 - Netflix

The Eurovision Song Contest 2005 was the 50th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Kiev, Ukraine, following Ruslana's win at the 2004 Contest in Istanbul, Turkey with the song “Wild Dances”. The contest consisted of two shows: the semi-final and final, which took place on 19 and 21 May 2005, respectively, at the Palace of Sports. The shows were hosted by Maria Efrosinina and Pavlo Shylko. Thirty-nine countries participated, including the débuts of Bulgaria and Moldova and the return of Hungary, which was last represented in 1998. Organizers hoped that this event would boost Ukraine's image abroad and increase tourism, while the country's new government hoped that it would also give a modest boost to the long-term goal of acquiring European Union membership. The winner for 2005 was Greece with the song “My Number One” performed by Helena Paparizou, written by Christos Dantis and Natalia Germanou, both successful singer-songwriters in Greece. It scored 230 points, beating Malta into second place by a margin of 38 points. This was the first victory for Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest. Romania, Israel and Latvia rounded out the top five. The “Big Four” countries (France, Germany, Spain and United Kingdom) ended up as the “Last Four”, all placing in the bottom four position of the scoreboard in the final.

In 2017, she was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 74th Venice Film Festival. Fonda made her Broadway debut in the 1960 play There Was a Little Girl, for which she received the first of two Tony Award nominations, and made her screen debut later the same year in Tall Story. She rose to fame in 1960s films such as Period of Adjustment (1962), Sunday in New York (1963), Cat Ballou (1965), Barefoot in the Park (1967) and Barbarella (1968). Consecutive hits Fun with Dick and Jane (1977), California Suite (1978), The Electric Horseman (1979) and 9 to 5 (1980) sustained Fonda's box-office drawing power, and she won an Emmy Award for her performance in the 1984 TV film The Dollmaker. In 1982, she released her first exercise video, Jane Fonda's Workout, which became the highest-selling VHS of all time. It would be the first of 22 workout videos released by her over the next 13 years which would collectively sell over 17 million copies. Divorced from second husband Tom Hayden, she married billionaire media mogul Ted Turner in 1991 and retired from acting, following a row of commercially unsuccessful films concluded by Stanley & Iris (1990). Fonda divorced Turner in 2001 and returned to the screen with the 2005 hit Monster-in-Law. Though Georgia Rule (2007) was the star's only other movie during the 2000s, in the early 2010s she fully re-launched her career. She also released another five exercise videos between 2010 and 2012. Fonda currently stars with Lily Tomlin, Sam Waterston and Martin Sheen in the Netflix original series Grace and Frankie, which premiered in 2015. Fonda was a visible political activist in the counterculture era during the Vietnam War and later became involved in advocacy for women. She was famously and controversially photographed sitting on an anti-aircraft gun on a 1972 visit to Hanoi. She has also protested the Iraq War and violence against women, and describes herself as a feminist. In 2005, she, Robin Morgan and Gloria Steinem co-founded the Women's Media Center, an organization that works to amplify the voices of women in the media through advocacy, media and leadership training, and the creation of original content. Fonda serves on the board of the organization.

Waltz - Waltz - Netflix

The waltz (from German Walzer [ˈvalt͡sɐ̯]) is a ballroom and folk dance, normally in triple time, performed primarily in closed position.

Waltz - Variants - Netflix

In the 19th and early 20th century, numerous different waltz forms existed, including versions performed in 34, 38 or 68 (sauteuse), and 54 time (54 waltz, half and half). In the 1910s, a form called the “Hesitation Waltz” was introduced by Vernon and Irene Castle. It incorporated “hesitations” and was danced to fast music. A hesitation is basically a halt on the standing foot during the full waltz bar, with the moving foot suspended in the air or slowly dragged. Similar figures (Hesitation Change, Drag Hesitation, and Cross Hesitation) are incorporated in the International Standard Waltz Syllabus. The Country Western Waltz is mostly progressive, moving counter clock wise around the dance floor. Both the posture and frame are relaxed, with posture bordering on a slouch. The exaggerated hand and arm gestures of some ballroom styles are not part of this style. Couples may frequently dance in the promenade position, depending on local preferences. Within Country Western waltz, there is the Spanish Waltz and the more modern (for the late 1930s- early 1950s) Pursuit Waltz. At one time it was considered ill treatment for a man to make the woman walk backwards in some locations. In California the waltz was banned by Mission priests until after 1834 because of the “closed” dance position. Thereafter a Spanish Waltz was danced. This Spanish Waltz was a combination of dancing around the room in closed position, and a “formation” dance of two couples facing each other and performing a sequence of steps. “Valse a Trois Temps” was the “earliest” waltz step, and the Rye Waltz was favoured as a couple dance. In contemporary ballroom dance, the fast versions of the waltz are called Viennese Waltz as opposed to the Slow waltz. In traditional Irish music, the waltz was taught by travelling dancing masters to those who could afford their lessons during the 19th century. By the end of that century, the dance spread to the middle and lower classes of Irish society and traditional triple-tune tunes and songs were altered to fit the waltz rhythm. During the 20th century, the waltz found a distinctively Irish playing style in the hands of Céilidh musicians at dances. International Standard Waltz has only closed figures; that is, the couple never breaks the embrace. The American Style Waltz, part of the American Smooth ballroom dance syllabus, in contrast to the International Standard Waltz, involves breaking contact almost entirely in some figures. For example, the Syncopated Side-by-Side with Spin includes a free spin for both partners. Open rolls are another good example of an open dance figure, in which the follower alternates between the lead's left and right sides, with the lead's left or right arm (alone) providing the lead. Waltzes were the staple of many American musicals and films, including “Waltz in Swing Time” sung by Fred Astaire. The Scandinavian Waltz, performed as a part of Scandinavian folk dance, can be fast or slow, but the dancers are always rotating. The Peruvian Waltz is called and recognised in Peru as vals criollo. The Mexican Waltz (vals mexicano) follows the same basic rhythmic pattern as the standard waltz, but the melodies reflect a strong Spanish influence. Mexico's Juventino Rosas wrote “Sobre las Olas” or “Over the Waves”, commonly known in the U.S. as a circus song played during a trapeze show. The Cajun Waltz is danced progressively around the floor, and is characterised by the subtle swaying of the hips and step very close to ordinary walking. It is danced entirely in the closed position. The Cuban (or Tropical) Waltz follows the pattern of the standard waltz throughout the song. The Venezuelan waltz provided a basis for distinctive regional musical composition. The Contra Waltz (Freeform Waltz), included in most contra dance evenings, uses both open and closed positions, and incorporates moves from other dances such as swing, modern jive and salsa. Basically the dancers progress around the dance floor with a waltz step, but with no constraints on what moves they can use. The Valse Musette, a form of waltz popular in France, started in the late 19th century. The cross-step waltz (French Valse Boston) developed in France in the early 20th century and is popular in social waltz groups today. In folk dance from the Alsace region, waltzes in odd metres such as 54, 84 and 114 are found. In modern bal folk, waltzes in even higher metres are played and danced. Estonian folk dance Labajalavalss (flat of the foot waltz) performed in 34 time. Today both the faster Viennese Waltz, made forever popular by the Strauss family, and the slower American and International style waltzes are extremely popular with dancers of all ages. Sama'i (also known as usul semai) is a vocal piece of Ottoman Turkish music composed in 6/8 metres. This form and metre (usul in Turkish) is often confused with the completely different Saz Semaisi, an instrumental form consisting of three to four sections, in 10/8 metre, or usul aksak semai (broken semai in Turkish). Semai is one of the most important forms in Ottoman Turkish Sufi music. The Tsamikos (Greek: Τσάμικος, Tsamikos) or Kleftikos (Greek: Κλέφτικος) is a popular traditional folk dance of Greece, done to music of 3/4 metre.

Lucky Ajax are a beneficiary team that was initiated by Sjaak Swart in the seventies, competing in at least one match a year, usually in the name of charity and/or to bid farewell to retiring former Ajax players. The team is made up of various members of the Club van 100 of Ajax who will come out of retirement for this match to face the Ajax squad that is current of that year. Past participants have included Barry Hulshoff, Sonny Silooy, Simon Tahamata, Ronald Koeman, Tscheu La Ling, Gerrie Mühren, John van 't Schip, Brian Roy, Stanley Menzo, Peter van Vossen and Fred Grim. The name Lucky Ajax is derived from the famous “Lucky Ajax” nickname from how people used to refer to the club when Ajax would either win a match by chance, by a decision of a referee, or by coincidence such as was said to be the case during the infamous Mistwedstrijd (“Fog Match”).

Ik zorg voor jou - Comparison of Afrikaans and Dutch - Netflix

Afrikaans is a daughter language of Dutch and—unlike Netherlands Dutch, Belgian Dutch and Surinamese Dutch—a separate standard language rather than a national variety. As an estimated 90 to 95% of Afrikaans vocabulary is ultimately of Dutch origin, there are few lexical differences between the two languages; however, Afrikaans has a considerably more regular morphology, grammar, and spelling.

Ik zorg voor jou - Mutual intelligibility - Netflix

There is a high degree of mutual intelligibility between the two languages, particularly in written form. Research suggests that mutual intelligibility between Dutch and Afrikaans is better than between Dutch and Frisian or between Danish and Swedish. Mutual intelligibility tends to be asymmetrical, as it is easier for Dutch speakers to understand Afrikaans than for Afrikaans speakers to understand Dutch.

Zijn er nog Kroketten? - Vlaamse Televisie Sterren - Netflix

Zijn er nog Kroketten? - Voting procedure - Netflix

De Tafel van Taal - Life - Netflix

In 1899 Grünwedel was invited to join a Russian archaeological research expedition led by Vasily Radlov into the north of Xinjiang province, China. In the same year he was appointed a member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. In 1902-1903 Grünwedel led the first German expedition to Turpan, in Xinjiang, becoming the first modern European to study the massive ruins near Gaochang. He recorded the events of this expedition in his book Report on Archaeological work in Idikutschahri and Surrounding areas in Winter 1902-1903 (1905). The next expedition was led by Albert von Le Coq, who became famous for removing large numbers of frescos from sites across Xinjiang. Grünwedel himself headed the third German Turfan expedition in 1905-1907, the results of which were published in Ancient Buddhist Religion in Chinese Turkistan (1912). Grünwedel's expeditions were largely funded by the Krupp family. Grünwedel was joined by Heinrich Lüders who made major contributions to the epigraphical analysis of the Turpan-Expedition findings after being called to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-University Berlin as Professor for oriental languages in 1909. Grünwedel retired in 1921, and in 1923 moved to Bavaria, where his spent his last years at Bad Tölz writing a number of scientific papers. He died in Lenggries in 1935.

Jinek - Eva Jinek - Netflix

Eva Jinek (born 13 July 1978) is an American-born Dutch journalist and television presenter.

Jinek - Biography - Netflix

Jinek was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and grew up in Washington, D.C., where she attended Sheridan School. Her Czech parents decided to move to the Netherlands when she was eleven. “Just before I went to high school, they decided that they would prefer that my brother and I grow up in Europe. I remember it was six weeks until I spoke my first word in Dutch.” After studying American history at the University of Leiden in 2004, she became foreign editor of the Dutch public news network NOS Journaal, where she covered the United States. In addition, since the end of 2007 she anchored the news show NOS Journaal 3. Since the autumn of 2008, Jinek presented the morning and afternoon news bulletins of the NOS. In May of that year she joined with fellow editor Monique van Hoogstraten, the editor of “Het maakbare nieuws,” a collection of eighteen stories with foreign journalists, provided in response to the book “Het zijn net mensen” (Almost Human) of journalist-writer Joris Luyendijk. She is well known for her coverage of the USA, since her work as a co-host of the show 'Amerika Kiest' (America Votes) of the NOS on the U.S. presidential elections, seen from the Netherlands on November 4 and 5th, 2008. Together with Philip Freriks she reported directly from the Occidental Restaurant near the White House. About the preparation of Amerika Kiest, Jinek told TV guide Mikro Gids: “The last weeks before the broadcast Amerika Kiest totally dominated my life, at the end, even 24 hours a day. I was so nervous. It felt like all eyes were on me. I just thought: Oh my god, let me do well. Really well!” On January 20, 2009, she was the host of the live broadcast on Nederland 1 of the inauguration of Barack Obama as 44th President of the United States. On March 2, 2009, she was in the news inadvertently when a video of her adjusting her shirt surfaced on the internet. In the video she mutters and shouts mild curses in both English and Dutch. She then exclaims, “Yeah, Boobies!” at one point, continuing with, “Mother of God. Yeah, if you have it, flaunt it!” and citing her mother who might tell her: “I can see your breasts!” She responded the next day, saying she was not annoyed nor embarrassed by the leaked video. In early 2010, Jinek was announced as one of the main presenters of the new news show Nieuwsuur (News Hour), alternating with anchor Twan Huys, but her relationship with former criminal defense lawyer Bram Moszkowicz sparked controversy about a conflict of interest, as Moszkowicz often appeared in the news; as a result, Jinek agreed to step down. She debuted as a radio host on June 4, 2010, for the program Met het Oog op Morgen (A Glance at Tomorrow), She hosted the show every Monday night until 2014. On August 28, 2011 Jinek presented her last 6pm bulletin for the NOS. Between 2013 and 2015, Jinek had a relationship with biologist Freek Vonk. The couple separated in May 2015.

Exitus - Lamentabili sane exitu - Netflix

Lamentabili sane exitu (“with truly lamentable results”) is a 1907 syllabus, prepared by the Roman Inquisition and confirmed by Pope Pius X, which condemned alleged errors in the exegesis of Holy Scripture and in the history and interpretation of dogma. The syllabus itself does not use the term 'modernist', but was regarded as part of the Pope's campaign against modernism in general and philosophical evolutionism in particular. The document (items 46 and 47) specifically affirmed that the Sacrament of Reconciliation was instituted by Jesus himself, as in the Gospel of John 20:22-23. Published in July 1907, Lamentabili was soon to be complemented by the more comprehensive encyclical Pascendi dominici gregis, which came out in September 1907 and had been prepared in a small circle around the Pope, whereas the 1910 antimodernist oath Sacrorum Antistitum was again compiled in the Holy Office. Most of the condemned statements in Lamentabili were taken from the writings of Alfred Loisy and his school. Other Modernists like George Tyrrell were targeted only indirectly.

Exitus - Propositions condemned - Netflix

  1. The ecclesiastical law that prescribes that books concerning the Divine Scriptures are subject to previous examination does not apply to critical scholars and students of scientific exegesis of the Old and New Testament. 2. The Church's interpretation of the Sacred Books is by no means to be rejected; nevertheless, it is subject to the more accurate judgment and correction of the exegetes. 3. From the ecclesiastical judgments and censures passed against free and more scientific exegesis, one can conclude that the Faith the Church proposes contradicts history and that Catholic teaching cannot really be reconciled with the true origins of the Christian religion. 4. Even by dogmatic definitions the Church's magisterium cannot determine the genuine sense of the Sacred Scriptures. 5. Since the deposit of Faith contains only revealed truths, the Church has no right to pass judgment on the assertions of the human sciences. 6. The “Church learning” and the “Church teaching” collaborate in such a way in defining truths that it only remains for the “Church teaching” to sanction the opinions of the “Church learning.” 7. In proscribing errors, the Church cannot demand any internal assent from the faithful by which the judgments she issues are to be embraced. 8. They are free from all blame who treat lightly the condemnations passed by the Sacred Congregation of the Index or by the Roman Congregations.
  2. They display excessive simplicity or ignorance who believe that God is really the author of the Sacred Scriptures. 10. The inspiration of the books of the Old Testament consists in this: The Israelite writers handed down religious doctrines under a peculiar aspect that was either little or not at all known to the Gentiles. 11. Divine inspiration does not extend to all of Sacred Scriptures so that it renders its parts, each and every one, free from every error. 12. If he wishes to apply himself usefully to Biblical studies, the exegete must first put aside all preconceived opinions about the supernatural origin of Sacred Scripture and interpret it the same as any other merely human document.
  3. The Evangelists themselves, as well as the Christians of the second and third generation, artificially arranged the evangelical parables. In such a way they explained the scanty fruit of the preaching of Christ among the Jews. 14. In many narrations the Evangelists recorded, not so much things that are true, as things which, even though false, they judged to be more profitable for their readers. 15. Until the time the canon was defined and constituted, the Gospels were increased by additions and corrections. Therefore, there remained in them only a faint and uncertain trace of the doctrine of Christ. 16. The narrations of John are not properly history, but a mystical contemplation of the Gospel. The discourses contained in his Gospel are theological meditations, lacking historical truth concerning the mystery of salvation. 17. The fourth Gospel exaggerated miracles not only in order that the extraordinary might stand out but also in order that it might become more suitable for showing forth the work and glory of the Word Incarnate. 18. John claims for himself the quality of witness concerning Christ. In reality, however, he is only a distinguished witness of the Christian life, or of the life of Christ in the Church at the close of the first century. 19. Heterodox exegetes have expressed the true sense of the Scriptures more faithfully than Catholic exegetes. 20. Revelation could be nothing else than the consciousness man acquired of his revelation to God. 21. Revelation, constituting the object of the Catholic faith, was not completed with the Apostles. 22. The dogmas the Church holds out as revealed are not truths that have fallen from heaven. They are an interpretation of religious facts the human mind has acquired by laborious effort. 23. Opposition may, and actually does, exist between the facts narrated in Sacred Scripture and the Church's dogmas that rest on them. Thus the critic may reject as false facts the Church holds as most certain. 24. The exegete who constructs premises from which it follows that dogmas are historically false or doubtful is not to be reproved as long as he does not directly deny the dogmas themselves. 25. The assent of faith ultimately rests on a mass of probabilities. 26. The dogmas of the Faith are to be held only according to their practical sense; that is to say, as preceptive norms of conduct and not as norms of believing. 27. The divinity of Jesus Christ is not proved from the Gospels. It is a dogma the Christian conscience has derived from the notion of the Messiahs. 28. While He was exercising His ministry, Jesus did not speak with the object of teaching He was the Messiah, nor did His miracles tend to prove it. 29. It is permissible to grant that the Christ of history is far inferior to the Christ Who is the object of faith. 30 In all the evangelical texts the name “Son of God” is equivalent only to that of “Messiah”. It does not in the least way signify that Christ is the true and natural Son of God. 31. The doctrine concerning Christ taught by Paul, John, and the Councils of Nicea, Ephesus and Chalcedon is not what Jesus taught, but what the Christian conscience conceived concerning Jesus. 32. It is impossible to reconcile the natural sense of the Gospel texts with the sense taught by our theologians concerning the conscience and the infallible knowledge of Jesus Christ. 33 Everyone who is not led by preconceived opinions can readily see that either Jesus professed an error concerning the immediate Messianic coming or the greater part of His doctrine as contained in the Gospels is destitute of authenticity. 34. The critics can ascribe to Christ a knowledge without limits only on a hypothesis that cannot be historically conceived and that is repugnant to the moral sense. That hypothesis is that Christ as man possessed the knowledge of God and yet was unwilling to communicate the knowledge of a great many things to His disciples and posterity. 35. Christ did not always possess the consciousness of His Messianic dignity. 36. The Resurrection of the Savior is not properly a fact of the historical order. It is a fact of merely the supernatural order (neither demonstrated nor demonstrable) that the Christian conscience gradually derived from other facts. 37. In the beginning, faith in the Resurrection of Christ was not so much in the fact itself of the Resurrection as in the immortal life of Christ with God. 38. The doctrine of the expiatory death of Christ is Pauline and not evangelical. 39. The opinions concerning the origin of the Sacraments, which the Fathers of Trent held and which certainly influenced their dogmatic canons, are very different from those that now rightly exist among historians who examine Christianity . 40. The Sacraments have their origin in the fact that the Apostles and their successors, swayed and moved by circumstances and events, interpreted some idea and intention of Christ. 41. The Sacraments are intended merely to recall to man's mind the ever-beneficent presence of the Creator. 42. The Christian community imposed the necessity of Baptism, adopted it as a necessary rite, and added to it the obligation of the Christian profession. 43. The practice of administering Baptism to infants was a disciplinary evolution, which became one of the causes why the Sacrament was divided into two, namely, Baptism and Penance. 44. There is nothing to prove that the rite of the Sacrament of Confirmation was employed by the Apostles. The formal distinction of the two Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation does not pertain to the history of primitive Christianity. 45. Not everything Paul narrates concerning the institution of the Eucharist (1 Corinthians 11:23-25) is to be taken historically. 46. In the primitive Church the concept of the Christian sinner reconciled by the authority of the Church did not exist. Only very slowly did the Church accustom herself to this concept. As a matter of fact, even after Penance was recognized as an institution of the Church, it was not called a Sacrament since it would be held as a disgraceful Sacrament. 47. The words of the Lord, "Receive the Holy Spirit; whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained (John 20:22-23), in no way refer to the Sacrament of Penance, in spite of what it pleased the Fathers of Trent to say. 48. In his Epistle (James 5:14-15) James did not intend to promulgate a Sacrament of Christ but only commend a pious custom. If in this custom he happens to distinguish a means of grace, it is not in that rigorous manner in which it was taken by the theologians who laid down the notion and number of the Sacraments. 49. When the Christian supper gradually assumed the nature of a liturgical action those who customarily presided over the supper acquired the sacerdotal character. 50. The elders who fulfilled the office of watching over the gatherings of the faithful were instituted by the Apostles as priests or bishops to provide for the necessary ordering of the increasing communities and not properly for the perpetuation of the Apostolic mission and power. 51. It is impossible that Matrimony could have become a Sacrament of the new law until later in the Church since it was necessary that a full theological explication of the doctrine of grace and the Sacraments should first take place before Matrimony should be held as a Sacrament. 52. It was far from the mind of Christ to found a Church as a society that would continue on earth for a long course of centuries. On the contrary, in the mind of Christ the kingdom of heaven together with the end of the world was about to come immediately. 53. The organic constitution of the Church is not immutable. Like human society, Christian society is subject to a perpetual evolution. 54. Dogmas, Sacraments and hierarchy, both their notion and reality, are only interpretations and evolutions of the Christian intelligence, which have increased and perfected, by an external series of additions, the little germ latent in the Gospel. 55. Simon Peter never suspected that Christ entrusted the primacy in the Church to him. 56. The Roman Church became the head of all the churches, not through the ordinance of Divine Providence, but merely through political conditions. 57. The Church has shown that she is hostile to the progress of the natural and theological sciences. 58. Truth is no more immutable than man himself, since it evolved with him, in him, and through him. 59. Christ did not teach a determined body of doctrine applicable to all times and all men, but rather inaugurated a religious movement adapted or to be adapted to different times and places. 60. Christian Doctrine was originally Judaic. Through successive evolutions it became first Pauline, then Joannine, finally Hellenic and universal. 61. It may be said without paradox that there is no chapter of Scripture, from the first of Genesis to the last of the Apocalypse, that contains a doctrine absolutely identical to what the Church teaches on the same matter. For the same reason, therefore, no chapter of Scripture has the same sense for the critic and the theologian. 62. The chief articles of the Apostles' Creed did not have the same sense for the Christians of the first ages as they have for the Christians of our time. 63. The Church shows that she is incapable of effectively maintaining evangelical ethics since she obstinately clings to immutable doctrines that cannot be reconciled with modern progress. 64. Scientific progress demands that concepts of Christian doctrine concerning God, creation, revelation, the Person of the Incarnate Word, and Redemption be re-adjusted. 65. Modern Catholicism can be reconciled with true science only if it is transformed into a non-dogmatic Christianity; that is to say, into a broad and liberal Protestantism.

Gamekings - Mobile game - Netflix

A mobile game is a video game played on a feature phone, smartphone/tablet, smartwatch, PDA, portable media player or graphing calculator. The earliest known game on a mobile phone was a Tetris variant on the Hagenuk MT-2000 device from 1994. In 1997, Nokia launched the very successful Snake. Snake (and its variants), that was preinstalled in most mobile devices manufactured by Nokia, has since become one of the most played video games and is found on more than 350 million devices worldwide. A variant of the Snake game for the Nokia 6110, using the infrared port, was also the first two-player game for mobile phones. Today, mobile games are usually downloaded from app stores as well as from mobile operator's portals, but in some cases are also preloaded in the handheld devices by the OEM or by the mobile operator when purchased, via infrared connection, Bluetooth, memory card or side loaded onto the handset with a cable. Downloadable mobile games were first commercialised in Japan circa the launch of NTT DoCoMo's I-mode platform in 1999, and by the early 2000s were available through a variety of platforms throughout Asia, Europe, North America and ultimately most territories where modern carrier networks and handsets were available by the mid-2000s. However, mobile games distributed by mobile operators and third party portals (channels initially developed to monetise downloadable ringtones, wallpapers and other small pieces of content using premium SMS or direct carrier charges as a billing mechanism) remained a marginal form of gaming until Apple's iOS App Store was launched in 2008. As the first mobile content marketplace operated directly by a mobile platform holder, the App Store significantly changed the consumer behaviour and quickly broadened the market for mobile games, as almost every smartphone owner started to download mobile apps.

Gamekings - Calculator games - Netflix

Calculator gaming is a form of gaming in which games are played on programmable calculators, especially graphing calculators. An early example is the type-in program Darth Vader's Force Battle for the TI-59, published in BYTE in October 1980. The magazine also published a version of Hunt the Wumpus for the HP-41C. Few other games exist for the earliest of programmable calculators (including the Hewlett-Packard 9100A, one of the first scientific calculators), including the long-popular Lunar Lander game often used as an early programming exercise. However, limited program address space and lack of easy program storage made calculator gaming a rarity even as programmables became cheap and relatively easy to obtain. It wasn't until the early 1990s when graphing calculators became more powerful and cheap enough to be common among high school students for use in mathematics. The new graphing calculators, with their ability to transfer files to one another and from a computer for backup, could double as game consoles. Calculators such as HP-48 and TI-82 could be programmed in proprietary programming languages such as RPL programming language or TI-BASIC directly on the calculator; programs could also be written in assembly language or (less often) C on a desktop computer and transferred to the calculator. As calculators became more powerful and memory sizes increased, games increased in complexity. By the 1990s, programmable calculators were able to run implementations by hobbyists of games such as Lemmings and Doom (Lemmings for HP-48 was released in 1993; Doom for HP-48 was created in 1995). Some games such as Dope Wars caused controversy when students played them in school. The look and feel of these games on an HP-48 class calculator, due to the lack of dedicated audio and video circuitry providing hardware acceleration, can at most be compared to the one offered by 8-bit handheld consoles such as the early Game Boy or the Gameking (low resolution, monochrome or grayscale graphics), or to the built-in games of non-Java or BREW enabled cell phones. Games continue to be programmed on graphing calculators with increasing complexity. A wave of games appeared after the release of the TI-83 Plus/TI-84 Plus series, among TI's first graphing calculators to natively support assembly. TI-BASIC programming also rose in popularity after the release of third-party libraries. Assembly remained the language of choice for these calculators, which run on a Zilog Z80 processor, although some assembly implements have been created to ease the difficulty of learning assembly language. For those running on a Motorola 68000 processor (like the TI-89), C programming (possible using TIGCC) has begun to displace assembly. Because they are easy to program without outside tools, calculator games have survived despite the proliferation of mobile devices such as mobile phones and PDAs.

Hunted - Hunted (2017 TV series) - Netflix

Hunted is an American reality TV series based on the UK TV series of the same name. It premiered on January 22, 2017, on CBS.

Hunted - Production - Netflix

The show was filmed without the assistance of government or law enforcement. Each episode ends with a disclaimer stating that 'while the investigative techniques shown are real, some procedures have been replicated for broadcast.' Some information the hunters obtained — such as the Enterprise rental agreement and the car’s location — came from the production itself, provided to the hunters when they requested it. Also, participants granted access in advance to their personal records, homes and phones, and then that information was meted out to the hunters the same way it would have been during an actual investigation. There was a clear firewall between the hunter team and fugitive team. The production team did considerable research to ensure that the requests and receipt of information simulated what would happen in the real world, such as waiting for a subpoena. Additionally, the hunters had to make proper requests, and were sometimes denied information by the production team. Hunted was picked up by Channel 4 in the UK, but renamed Hunted USA to avoid confusion with the UK version.

10 jaar Ik Vertrek - Phillip Cocu - Netflix

Phillip John-William Cocu (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈfilɪb ˈɟɔn ˈʋɪlijɑm koːˈky]; born 29 October 1970) is a Dutch professional football manager and former player, currently coaching Fenerbahce SK. Cocu was born in Eindhoven but raised in Zevenaar, playing youth football for local clubs DCS and De Graafschap. After a year at AFC '34, he started his professional career at AZ. In 1990, Cocu moved to Vitesse. A broken fibula disrupted his first season, but he became a first-team regular in the following four seasons. In 1995, he joined PSV, where he won the KNVB Cup and the Eredivisie title in 1997. Cocu played for Barcelona between 1998 and 2004. There, he would become club captain, win La Liga in 1999 and play two Champions League semi-finals. He left the club in 2004 as club record holder for the most league appearances by a foreign player. During Cocu’s second stint at PSV, he won another three Eredivisie titles and reached the Champions League semi-finals. After a year at Al Jazira, Cocu retired from professional football. Cocu debuted for the Netherlands national team in 1996 and appeared at the 1998 World Cup, scoring two goals but missing a penalty in the semi-finals against Brazil. He also played at the 2006 World Cup, as well as the 1996, 2000 and 2004 European Championships. Cocu reached the semi-finals in the latter two tournaments and in 2004, he served as captain of the Dutch team. With 101 caps, Cocu is fifth on the list of most Dutch international appearances. During his career, he mainly played as a defensive “playmaker” midfielder, but became equally known for his ability to be fielded as a defender, wing back, winger or forward. After his retirement from playing professional football, Cocu joined PSV again as youth coach and later assistant manager. He also served as assistant at the Dutch team under Bert van Marwijk between 2008 and 2012. Cocu was caretaker manager at PSV in 2012, during which he won the KNVB Cup. In 2013, he was officially appointed as PSV manager.

10 jaar Ik Vertrek - PSV and Al-Jazira - Netflix

In 2004, Cocu signed a two-year contract with PSV. He formed a midfield with Johann Vogel and captain Mark van Bommel in a side that won the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup and reached the Champions League semi-finals in the 2004–05 season. In the Champions League, Cocu scored the PSV away goal in the quarter-final match against Lyon (1–1). PSV reached the semi-finals, but were ultimately eliminated by Milan. After losing the away leg 2–0, PSV went 2–0 ahead in the return game with a goal by Cocu. A goal by Milan's Massimo Ambrosini, however, ended the hope to reach the finals, despite an injury-time second goal by Cocu. In the domestic league, Cocu missed the title-winning match against Vitesse after a sending-off in the previous match. He was handed his second yellow card against Willem II after being provoked by Martijn Reuser. When Mark van Bommel left PSV in 2005, Cocu was handed the role of captain by manager Guus Hiddink. PSV won the league title again and reached the second round of the Champions League, where they were eliminated by Lyon. Cocu was sent off in the return match. For his league performances, Cocu won the Zilveren Schoen as the second-best Eredivisie player that year. After the 2005-06 season, Cocu signed a one-year contract extension with PSV. The team started the 2006–07 season well, but the performances heavily declined in the second half of the season and the title was almost lost. The championship was to be decided on the last league round, with PSV facing Vitesse. PSV won the match 5–1, with Cocu scoring the final goal. This goal eventually decided the title race: the goal difference between PSV and runners-up Ajax was one goal, just enough for the Eredivisie title win. Cocu was close to announcing his retirement after the 2006–07 season, but still received offers from Australia and Al Jazira Club. After consulting Al Jazira's Abe Knoop and Lázsló Jámbor (who worked for Ajax), he chose to sign a one-year deal with the club from the United Arab Emirates in August 2007. In his first match, played against Al Wasl, he immediately scored in the team's 2–1 victory. With Al-Jazira, Cocu appeared in 17 league matches and scored four goals. After the season ended, Cocu considered staying for another year, but ultimately chose to return to the Netherlands in time for the professional football coach course. In July 2009, Cocu received a testimonial match from PSV at the Philips Stadion. An all-star team consisting of Luís Figo, Edgar Davids, Frank de Boer and many other former players competed against the PSV first team.

Zwarte Tulp - Duin- en Bollenstreek - Netflix

The Duin- en Bollenstreek (Dutch for “Dune and Bulb Region”) is a region in the western Netherlands, that features coastal dunes and the cultivation of flower bulbs. Situated at the heart of historical Holland nearby the city Leiden, South Holland, and boundered by The Hague and Haarlem, the combination of beaches, flower fields, lakes and history makes this area attractive to tourists.

Zwarte Tulp - Floriculture and the floral industry - Netflix

Floriculture, the processing of bulbs for export, and other activities in the floral industry are major economic activities in this area. Bulb cultivation in this area began at the end of the 16th century. Tulip mania in the early 17th century played a particularly important role in its development. The bulbs are planted in the autumn. The earth is covered with straw and packed down to help protect the bulbs from the frost. The flower season begins with the flowering of crocuses in March, followed at the end of March by the combined flowering of tulips, narcissus (also known as daffodils) and hyacinths, which extends into early May. In the autumn, a further display occurs when gladioli, dahlias, carnations and asters flower. These flowers are often grown primarily for the bulb, not the flower. After they have bloomed, the flowers are decapitated. The flower may be used in floral wreaths. In the summer the bulbs are dug out and the plant remains are burned in the fields. The bulbs are sorted, the bulbs large enough to flower being sold and the smaller bulbs replanted. The bulbs are peeled, usually by students or foreign workers. They are then disinfected and dried out at a high temperature in huge bulb sheds (bollenschuren), a characteristic building in this area. The bulbs are traded at flower auctions in Rijnsburg, Lisse and Aalsmeer and then exported from nearby Schiphol Airport to many countries throughout the world.

Holland! - Holland - Netflix

Holland is a region and former province on the western coast of the Netherlands. The name Holland is also frequently used informally to refer to the whole of the country of the Netherlands. This usage is commonly accepted in other countries, and sometimes employed by the Dutch themselves. However, some in the Netherlands, particularly in other regions of the country, may find it undesirable or misrepresentative. From the 10th to the 16th century, Holland proper was a unified political region within the Holy Roman Empire as a county ruled by the Counts of Holland. By the 17th century, the province of Holland had risen to become a maritime and economic power, dominating the other provinces of the newly independent Dutch Republic. The area of the former County of Holland roughly coincides with the two current Dutch provinces of North Holland and South Holland in which it was divided, which together include the Netherlands' three largest cities: the de jure capital city of Amsterdam; Rotterdam, home of Europe's largest port; and the seat of government of The Hague.

Holland! - County of Holland - Netflix

Until the start of the 12th century, the inhabitants of the area that became Holland were known as Frisians. The area was initially part of Frisia. At the end of the 9th century, West-Frisia became a separate county in the Holy Roman Empire. The first Count known about with certainty was Dirk I, who ruled from 896 to 931. He was succeeded by a long line of counts in the House of Holland (who were in fact known as counts of Frisia until 1101). When John I, count of Holland, died childless in 1299, the county was inherited by John II of Avesnes, count of Hainaut. By the time of William V (House of Wittelsbach; 1354–1388) the count of Holland was also the count of Hainaut and Zealand. After the St. Lucia's flood in 1287 the part of Frisia west of the later Zuiderzee, West Friesland, was conquered. As a result, most provincial institutions, including the States of Holland and West Frisia, would for more than five centuries refer to “Holland and West Frisia” as a unit. The Hook and Cod wars started around this time and ended when the countess of Holland, Jacoba or Jacqueline was forced to give up Holland to the Burgundian Philip III, known as Philip the Good, in 1432. In 1432, Holland became part of the Burgundian Netherlands and since 1477 of the Habsburg Seventeen Provinces. In the 16th century the county became the most densely urbanised region in Europe, with the majority of the population living in cities. Within the Burgundian Netherlands, Holland was the dominant province in the north; the political influence of Holland largely determined the extent of Burgundian dominion in that area. The last count of Holland was Philip III, better known as Philip II, king of Spain. He was deposed in 1581 by the Act of Abjuration, although the kings of Spain continued to carry the titular appellation of Count of Holland until the Peace of Münster signed in 1648.

Noord Zuid - North Holland - Netflix

North Holland (Dutch: Noord-Holland [ˌnoːrt ˈɦɔlɑnt] ( listen), West Frisian Dutch: Noard-Holland) is a province of the Netherlands located in the northwestern part of the country. It is situated on the North Sea, north of South Holland and Utrecht, and west of Friesland and Flevoland. In 2015, it had a population of 2,762,163 and a total area of 2,670 km2 (1,030 sq mi). From the 9th to the 16th century, the area was an integral part of the County of Holland. During this period West Friesland was incorporated. In the 17th and 18th century, the area was part of the province of Holland and commonly known as the Noorderkwartier (English: “Northern Quarter”). In 1840, the province of Holland was split into the two provinces of North Holland and South Holland. In 1855, the Haarlemmermeer was drained and turned into land. The capital and seat of the provincial government is Haarlem, and the province's largest city is the Netherlands' capital Amsterdam. The King's Commissioner of North Holland is Johan Remkes, serving since 2010. There are 51 municipalities and three (including parts of) water boards in the province.

Noord Zuid - Emergence of a new province (1795 to 1840) - Netflix

The province of North Holland as it is today has its origins in the period of French rule from 1795 to 1813. This was a time of bewildering changes to the Dutch system of provinces. In 1795, the old order was swept away and the Batavian Republic was established. In the Constitution enacted on 23 April 1798, the old borders were radically changed. The republic was reorganised into eight departments (département) with roughly equal populations. Holland was split up into five departments named “Texel”, “Amstel”, “Delf”, “Schelde en Maas”, and “Rijn”. The first three of these lay within the borders of the old Holland; the latter two were made up of parts of different provinces. In 1801 the old borders were restored when the department of Holland was created. This reorganisation had been short-lived, but it gave birth to the concept of breaking up Holland and making it a less powerful province. In 1807, Holland was reorganised. This time the two departments were called “Amstelland” (corresponding to the modern province of North Holland) and “Maasland” (corresponding to the modern province of South Holland). This also did not last long. In 1810, all the Dutch provinces were integrated into the French Empire. Amstelland and Utrecht were amalgamated as the department of “Zuiderzee” (Zuyderzée in French) and Maasland was renamed “Monden van de Maas” (Bouches-de-la-Meuse in French). After the defeat of the French in 1813, this organisation remained unchanged for a year or so. When the 1814 Constitution was introduced, the country was reorganised as provinces and regions (landschappen). Zuiderzee and Monden van de Maas were reunited as the province of “Holland”. One of the ministers on the constitutional committee (van Maanen) suggested that the old name “Holland and West Friesland” be reintroduced to respect the feelings of the people of that region. This proposal was rejected. However, the division was not totally reversed. When the province of Holland was re-established in 1814, it was given two governors, one for the former department of Amstelland (area that is now North Holland) and one for the former department of Maasland (now South Holland). Even though the province had been reunited, the two areas were still being treated differently in some ways and the idea of dividing Holland remained alive. During this reorganisation the islands of Vlieland and Terschelling were returned to Holland and parts of “Hollands Brabant” (including “Land of Altena”) went to North Brabant. The borders with Utrecht and Gelderland were definitively set in 1820. When the constitutional amendments were introduced in 1840, it was decided to split Holland once again, this time into two provinces called “North Holland” and “South Holland”. The need for this was not felt in South Holland or in West Friesland (which feared the dominance of Amsterdam). The impetus came largely from Amsterdam, which still resented the 1838 relocation of the court of appeal to The Hague in South Holland.

Check-point - Check mark - Netflix

A check mark, checkmark or tick is a mark (✓, ✔, etc.) used (primarily in the English speaking world) to indicate the concept “yes” (e.g. “yes; this has been verified”, “yes; that is the correct answer”, “yes; this has been completed”, or “yes; this [item or option] applies to me”). The x mark is also sometimes used for this purpose (most notably on election ballot papers, e.g. in the United Kingdom), but otherwise usually indicates “no”, incorrectness, or failure. As a verb, to check (off) or tick (off), means to add such a mark. Printed forms, printed documents, and computer software (see checkbox), commonly include squares in which to place check marks.

Check-point - History - Netflix

The check mark is believed to have been created during the Roman Empire. “V” was used to shorten the word “veritas”, meaning 'truth'. This was used to indicate yes, true, or confirmed on items in a list. Over time, the design of the mark started to change. As people started writing more quickly, the right side became elongated.

Omdat ik het zeg! - Dutch grammar - Netflix

This article outlines the grammar of the Dutch language, which shares strong similarities with German grammar and also, to a lesser degree, with English grammar.

Omdat ik het zeg! - Conjugation - Netflix

Dutch conjugation resembles that of other continental West Germanic languages such as (Standard) German and Low German, and also the other Germanic languages to a lesser degree. Dutch retains the two main types of verb inherited from Proto-Germanic: weak and strong. Preterite-present verbs are also present, but can be considered irregular. All regular verbs conjugate the same in the present tense (including the infinitive and present participle), so the weak versus strong distinction only matters for the past tense. The following is a general overview of the endings: Weak verbs are the most common type of verb in Dutch, and the only productive type (all newly created verbs are weak). They form their past tense with an ending containing a dental consonant, -d- or -t-. Which of the two is used depends on the final consonant of the verb stem. If the stem ends in a voiceless consonant, then -t- is used, otherwise -d-. It is often summarised with the mnemonic “'t kofschip”: if the verb stem ends with one of the consonants of 't kofschip (t, k, f, s, ch, p), then the past tense will have -t-. However, it also applies for c, q and x and any other letter that is voiceless in pronunciation. werken, werkte (“to work, worked”) leren, leerde (“to learn/teach, learned/taught”) razen, raasde (“to rage, raged”) lossen, loste (“to lose/get rid of, lost”) Strong verbs are less common in Dutch, but they include many of the most common verbs. They form their past tenses by changing the vowel of the stem (ablaut). For strong verbs one needs to learn three or four principal parts: the infinitive, the past (singular), optionally the past plural, and the past participle. However, the vowel patterns are often predictable and can be divided into seven or so classes, based on the vowels used in these three principal parts. Some verbs are a mixture of two classes. Examples: rijden, reed, gereden (“ride, rode, ridden”, class 1) binden, bond, gebonden (“bind, bound, bound”, class 3a) geven, gaf, gegeven (“give, gave, given”, class 5) lopen, liep, gelopen (“walk/run, walked, walked”, class 7b) A number of verbs mix the strong and weak types of past. They have a strong past participle but all the other past tense forms are weak, or the other way around. lachen, lachte, gelachen (“laugh, laughed, laughed”, weak past, strong past participle) zouten, zoutte, gezouten (“salt, salted, salted”, weak past, strong past participle) vragen, vroeg, gevraagd (“ask, asked, asked”, strong past, weak past participle) Some of the most used verbs in the Dutch language have irregular conjugations which don't follow the normal rules. This includes especially the preterite-present verbs. These verbs historically had present tense forms that resembled the past tenses of strong verbs, and can be recognised in modern Dutch by the absence of the -t in the third-person singular present (the English equivalents lack the -s in the same way). Preterite-present verbs have weak past tenses, but often irregularly formed. Many of these verbs are now used as auxiliary verbs. The additional -t of the second-person gij-form is optional in the past tense for weak verbs and is usually considered archaic. For strong verbs, the -t is always required.

The Sky is the Limit - Skies the Limit - Netflix

“Skies the Limit” is a single released in 1990 by British-American band Fleetwood Mac, from their album Behind the Mask. The single achieved modest success; while it did not chart on the US Hot 100, it did reach number 10 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and number 40 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The moderate success of “Skies the Limit” and “Save Me” helped to push their parent album into the US and Canadian Top 20, albeit only briefly. “Skies the Limit” was the only track from Behind the Mask included on The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac 2-CD Set in 2002.

Het beste moet nog komen - In de gloria - Netflix

In de gloria (“In the glory”) was a 2000-2001 Flemish TV sketch comedy show, directed by Jan Eelen and produced by the company Woestijnvis. It was a mockumentary series which satirized reality television and human interest shows, especially the way regular people are exploited by media. The show ran on the Belgian public TV channel Canvas for two seasons of 10 episodes each. In Flanders itself the series enjoys a high popularity and much critical praise, with several sketches having gained classic status. Despite the local popularity the show has never been exported.

Het beste moet nog komen - Internet notoriety - Netflix

In 2006 one of the sketches, “Boemerang” (Boomerang) gained notoriety on YouTube. It features the host of a talk show, “Boemerang”, breaking into fits of giggles after hearing the voice of one of his guests, who spoke in a squeaky manner due to a failed tonsillectomy. The video uploader who added English subtitles to the footage implied the footage was real and shortened it especially to remove all indications of it being fake. The full sketch shows the TV host in a supposed archive TV show (hence the title Boemerang) looking back on the infamous moment that got him fired in the past. All people in the footage are actors. The show's host, Erik Hartman, is played by Tom Van Dyck, his two guests Valère and Marijke are portrayed by Lucas Van den Eynde and An Miller. It quickly became an Internet meme among foreigners who mistook it for being real. In September 2006 the YouTube clip was even shown during The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Star Channel news, with both hosts announcing it as being real. Part of the Boemerang sketch were also featured in an Argentinian television advertisement for Quilmes beer, titled Risas (laughs), where Hartman is seen laughing.

Kees & Co - Bonnie McKee - Netflix

Bonnie Leigh McKee (born January 20, 1984) is an American singer and songwriter. Her debut album, Trouble, was released in September 2004 under Reprise Records. After being dropped by Reprise several years after its release, McKee had taken a musical hiatus before establishing a name for herself as a songwriter. McKee has written 10 singles that have reached number one in the United States or the United Kingdom, which have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide combined. After sometime of focusing on songwriting, McKee released “American Girl” in July 2013. McKee is particularly known for collaborating with pop singer Katy Perry, and the duo has written the hits “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “Part of Me,” “Wide Awake,” and “Roar” together. McKee also co-wrote “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz, which became the second-best selling song by a British artist in the digital era. McKee also co-wrote other hits such as “Hold It Against Me” by Britney Spears and “C'Mon” by Kesha, and has also written for Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, and Adam Lambert.

Kees & Co - 2006–2013: Songwriting career - Netflix

McKee's first single under Epic Records was “American Girl”, which was released on July 23, 2013. She posted a promotional video for “American Girl” on YouTube in June 2013 which garnered 2.3 million views. The official music video for the song was released on July 22, 2013. In October, McKee released a new song titled “Sleepwalker”. McKee confirmed that the song was not a single, but rather an “inbetweengle,” a portmanteau meaning “in between single”, meant to tide fans over until her next official release. The music video premiered on October 17, 2013, and starred McKee and Kelsey Chow. McKee had spent several years under a joint deal between Epic and Kemosabe Records, and had planned to release her second studio album in the summer of 2014. A second single titled “S.L.A.Y.” was performed at multiple venues and while she was on tour with Karmin on their Pulses Tour, but was delayed many times and eventually not released. McKee left Epic and Kemosabe Records after feeling she had a lack of control over her career and the creative direction that she wanted to take.

Following her release from Reprise Records, McKee managed to get a job at Pulse Recordings' publishing arm, Check Your Pulse, through her boyfriend and longtime collaborator, Oliver “Oligee” Goldstein. She lived in poverty, without hot water, a cell phone, or a car, while spending many hours in the recording studio, learning how to use Pro Tools and crafting new songs alongside Elliott Yamin and Leighton Meester. In 2009, McKee was introduced to music producer Dr. Luke by her manager Josh Abraham. Dr. Luke had collaborated with McKee's longtime friend Katy Perry on her second album One of the Boys. Around this time, Perry expressed interest in having “a co-writer I could volley with,” adding that “Bonnie and I are on the same zeitgeist tip.” Together, they (along with Max Martin and Benny Blanco) began writing songs, ultimately producing the hits that would appear on Perry's third album, Teenage Dream. McKee co-wrote three singles from the album, “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream”, and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)”, the last of which was inspired by McKee and Perry's misadventures in their teenaged years. Each of the singles topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and they earned McKee several BMI Pop Awards in 2011 and 2012 for her role as a songwriter. McKee also co-wrote two more chart-toppers for Perry, “Part of Me” and “Roar”, and four other songs that hit number one on either the Hot 100 or the UK Singles Chart, Britney Spears' “Hold It Against Me,” Taio Cruz's “Dynamite,” Rita Ora's “How We Do (Party)” and Cheryl's “I Don't Care”. On June 22, 2017, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that “Roar” had received an RIAA Diamond certification award for 10 million copies sold.

In 2012, McKee co-wrote two songs that appeared on Adam Lambert's album Trespassing, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. She appeared as a featured performer on “Thunder” from Rusko's album Songs, released on Mad Decent. During this time, she signed a recording contract with Epic Records. She had garnered attention for her fashion sense, appearing on E!'s Fashion Police, and appearing on the pages of the New York Times, New York Post, and Schön! Magazine. In 2013, McKee was awarded with three more BMI Pop awards for her songwriting work on Katy Perry's “Wide Awake” and “Part of Me”, as well as Britney Spears' “Hold It Against Me”.

Met de deur in huis - Dutch grammar - Netflix

This article outlines the grammar of the Dutch language, which shares strong similarities with German grammar and also, to a lesser degree, with English grammar.

Met de deur in huis - Diminutive in -tje - Netflix

The basic suffix -tje is modified in different ways depending on the final sounds of the noun it is attached to. The -t- is removed from the ending when added to words ending in a fricative or plosive (-b, -c, -d, -f, -g, -ch, -k, -p, -q, -s, -sj, -t, -v, -x, -z). hond → hondje brief → briefje hok → hokje vis → visje douche → doucheje (/duʃ/ → /ˈduʃ(j)ə/) race → raceje (/reːs/ → /ˈreːsjə/ ~ /ˈreːʃə/) Note that the last two words really end in a consonant, despite not being spelled that way. When the vowel of the last syllable is both short and stressed, and it is followed by a sonorant, an extra schwa -e- is inserted, giving -etje. kom → kommetje pil → pilletje lam → lammetje ding → dingetje vriendin → vriendinnetje baron → baronnetje In all other cases, the basic form -tje is used. This includes: Words ending in a stressed tense/long vowel or diphthong. Words ending in any unstressed vowel. Words ending in one of the above types of vowel, followed by -l, -n, -r. Words ending in one of the above types of vowel, followed by -m. The resulting combination -mtje is assimilated to -mpje. Words ending in one of the above types of vowel, followed by -ng. The resulting combination -ngtje is assimilated to -nkje. When the final vowel is long, it is doubled accordingly. Final -i, which does not really occur in native Dutch words, is converted into -ie. Final -y gets an apostrophe. koe → koetje auto → autootje mama → mamaatje vrouw → vrouwtje taxi → taxietje baby → baby'tje school → schooltje kuil → kuiltje maan → maantje muur → muurtje appel → appeltje boom → boompje duim → duimpje bodem → bodempje koning → koninkje houding → houdinkje In the case of the vowels oe and ie, there is some ambiguity. While pronounced short in many dialects, they can also be long for some speakers, so forms both with and without the extra -e- can be found. bloem → bloemetje or bloempje (however bloemetje has an additional meaning: bouquet) wiel → wieltje or wieletje

Het zijn net mensen - Bible translations into Dutch - Netflix

Philips of Marnix, lord of Saint-Aldegonde (1538–1598), who was among the leaders of the Dutch War of Independence wrote one of the earliest Bible translations into Dutch. His translation influenced the later Statenvertaling or “States' Bible.” The first official Bible translation into Dutch directly from Greek and Hebrew sources was the Statenvertaling. It was ordered by the States-General at the Synod of Dort in 1618/19, and first published in 1637. It soon became the generally accepted translation for Reformed churches in the Netherlands and remained so well into the 20th century. It was supplanted to a large extent in 1951 by the Nederlands Bijbelgenootschap (NBG) translation, which still uses relatively old-fashioned language. Modern language translations are Groot Nieuws Bijbel (GNB), International Bible Society's Het Boek, and the Roman Catholic Willibrordvertaling. In 2004, the Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling (NBV) translation appeared, which was produced by an ecumenical translation team, and is intended as an all-purpose translation for pulpit and home use; however, there has been much criticism on its accuracy. Around the same time, there has also been much work on very literal, idiolect translations, such as the Naarden translation of 2004, Albert Koster's translation of the Old Testament, a work in progress since 1991, and the Torah translation of the Societas Hebraica Amstelodamensis. In December 2010, the Herziene Statenvertaling (revised States Bible) was released. In October 2014, the Bijbel in gewone taal (Bible in normal language) was released.

Het Huis Anubis - Het Huis Anubis - Netflix

Het Huis Anubis (The House of Anubis) is a Belgian-Dutch children's television drama created by Studio 100 and Nickelodeon, airing in the Netherlands and Flanders. It first aired in September 2006 and the last episode was broadcast on December 4, 2009. The show was a huge success in the Benelux, despite the show's low budget for the first two seasons. After ending, the show was followed by a spin-off, called Het Huis Anubis en de Vijf van het Magische Zwaard (The House of Anubis and the Five of the Magical Sword). This series followed another group of friends, who moved into the house from the original series after the original residents moved out and went to college. None of the actors from the original returned. The spin-off was as successful as the original series and finished its second (and final) season in June 2011. The series started re-airing all episodes in fall 2011, after the spin-off had its finale. Even though the majority of the episodes stayed the same, the episodes were aired in widescreen (the first two seasons were originally broadcast in fullscreen) and some of the old music was replaced with newer songs. Also, other small changes and cuts were made to make the seasons look a little bit more like the later seasons (which had higher budgets). On 6 January 2018, Spike and MTV Netherlands aired a reunion special called: #TB Het Huis Anubis in which certain castmembers looked back on their time on the show. The day after, Nickelodeon started re-airing all the episodes again, starting with season 1. Just like in 2011 the first season is being aired in widescreen and some of the music has been replaced. The old opening credits were also replaced with newer visuals. The logo for the show was also slightly modified.

Zie ze vliegen - Zie Ze Vliegen - Netflix

Zie Ze Vliegen is a Dutch mockumentary television comedy series, based entirely on British mockumentary Come Fly With Me - with the script and characters almost exactly the same. The series stars Carlo Boszhard, Irene Moors, Chantal Janzen and Gordon Heuckeroth. The series was narrated by Vivian Boelen. A spoof of airport documentaries, the series follows the activity at a fictional airport (stated as one of the busiest in Benelux and three fictional airlines: GoedkoopAir (a low-cost airline), FlyLimburg (GoedkoopAir's low-cost competitor) and KNL (a major international Dutch airline). Boszhard and Moors portray many of the focal airline and airport staff, as well as some passengers, whose comments and experiences are featured in one or more of the series episodes in the style of a “fly-on-the-wall documentary”. The show first aired on 20 August 2011 on RTL 4. The series was made available in DVD format on December 1, 2011 for €7,99.

Zie ze vliegen - Main characters - Netflix

Omar Baba (Boszhard) – The double-chinned, flamboyantly asinine owner of low-cost airline GoedkoopAir. Baba is parody of the controversial Greek “low-cost flying” entrepreneur, Stelios Haji-Ioannou (the founder of British low-cost airline Easyjet). Priscilla Matras (Boszhard) – A Surinamese woman who professes to be a devout Christian, she is the manager of the airport's coffee kiosk, Koffiehut. She tries to invent different excuses as to why her coffee shop is almost always closed. Moses Leidsman (Boszhard) – The gushing, effeminate executive passenger liaison officer for KNL. He is always offering help to passengers but always turns out not quite how he expects. Ingrid Voet (Moors) – The pompous and racist chief immigration officer, who often comes up with ridiculous reasons not to allow a foreign person into the country. Tommy Kroes (Boszhard) – A young, obtuse man working at Happy Burger, one of the airport's fast-food eateries. He hopes to work his way up to becoming a pilot, happily unaware that the two jobs are completely unrelated. Samir (Gordon) – Samir is a young man who works as part of the roving ground crew for GoedkoopAir. He sports a shaved head and a chin curtain beard. Melanie (Boszhard) and Kelly (Moors) – Two snarky check-in girls at Rotterdam The Hague Airport for GoedkoopAir. Tonnie (Moors) and Jaap (Boszhard) – Two shaggy paparazzi who haunt the airport's hallways, constantly messing up in their photo-shooting activities. Eugene de Vlaoi (Gordon) – A gay air steward for airline FlyLimburg, who leads a destructive campaign in order to become Employee of the Year, and has a huge family who are cabin crew at the airline. Ben de Roo (Boszhard) and Ria Munster (Moors) – Two British airport customs officers, with rather extreme methods of cataloguing the illegal substances they find, such as sampling drugs. Jacqueline de Bruin (Moors) and Hendrik de Bruin (Boszhard) – A husband-and-wife pilot team, flying for KNL. Jacqueline constantly brings up the fact that Hendrik committed adultery with stewardess Sandra Scheur; the reason they now fly together. Peter de Vries (Boszhard) and Irma de Vries (Janzen) – Holiday makers who have suffered several horrific and surrealistic trips abroad after buying destination packages from GoedkoopAir. Irma's husband, Peter, is forced to take a subordinate stance to her overbearing personality. Petra Kant (Boszhard) – A very elitist business-class stewardess for KNL's long haul flights. Sjon (Boszhard) and Cygnet (Moors) – Father-and-daughter baggage handlers, who steal from passengers' luggage and are generally less than careful with it.

Its lead single “Perfect Illusion” debuted at number one in France. As of January 2016, she has sold an estimated 27 million albums and 146 million singles worldwide. She has also sold around 7.25 million singles in the United Kingdom, and 11.46 million albums in US; in the latter country she is the first and only artist to have two songs pass 7 million downloads (“Poker Face” and “Just Dance”). According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), as of June 2018, Gaga is the eighth best-selling digital singles artist in the United States, with cumulative single certifications of 61 million digital downloads and on-demand streaming.

Op de Vlucht - Exposition des primitifs flamands à Bruges - Netflix

The Exposition des primitifs flamands à Bruges (Exhibition of Flemish Primitives at Bruges) was an art exhibition of paintings by the so-called Flemish Primitives (nowadays usually called Early Netherlandish painters) held in the Provinciaal Hof in Bruges between 15 June and 5 October 1902. It was the largest exhibition of c 15th c Flemish art to date, consisted of 413 official catalogue entries, and drew some 35,000 visitors. The exposition was highly influential, leading to at least five contemporary books as well as numerous scholarly articles, and initiated deeper study of the Flemish Primitives by a new generation of connoisseurs. It also inspired Johan Huizinga to research and write his The Autumn of the Middle Ages. The change in attribution of many important works (in table below) reflects progress in understanding the era by art historians since then, although it is an ongoing process.

Holland in da Hood - Retractable bridge - Netflix

A retractable bridge or retractile bridge is a type of movable bridge in which the deck can be rolled or slid backwards to open a gap while traffic crosses, usually a ship on a waterway. This type is sometimes referred to as a thrust bridge.

Retractable bridges date back to medieval times. Due to the large dedicated area required for this type of bridge, this design is not common. A retractable design may be considered when the maximum horizontal clearance is required (for example, over a canal). Two remaining examples exist in New York City: the Carroll Street Bridge (built 1889) in Brooklyn, and the Borden Avenue Bridge in Queens. A recent example can be found at Queen Alexandra Dock in Cardiff, Wales, where the bridge is jacked upwards before being rolled on wheels. Helix Bridge at Paddington Basin in London is a more unusual example of the type, consisting of a glass shell supported in a helical steel frame, which rotates as it retracts. The Summer Street Bridge over Fort Point Channel in Boston is another variant type. This bridge is oriented northwest–southeast, with the northwest-bound lanes of traffic retracting diagonally to the north, and the southeast-bound lanes retracting diagonally to the west. Some retractable bridges are also floating bridges, such as the Hood Canal Bridge. Two other floating bridges in Washington state used to have retractable spans but were replaced with new floating bridges without retractable spans: the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge (replaced in 2016) and Lacey V. Murrow Memorial Bridge (replaced after it accidentally sank in 1990). This design is popular in Guyana, which has the Demerara Harbour Bridge and the Berbice Bridge. Historical examples of designs for retractable bridges include those by Leonardo da Vinci and Agostino Ramelli. In the Netherlands, especially in the province of North Holland, a vlotbrug is a design of retractable bridge across a canal in which the roadway floats and can be retracted under fixed structures on the canal banks.

Bureau Kruislaan - The Bill - Netflix

The Bill is a British police procedural television series, first broadcast on ITV from 16 October 1984 until 31 August 2010. The programme originated from a one-off drama, Woodentop, broadcast in August 1983. In its final year on air, The Bill was broadcast once a week, usually on Tuesdays or Thursdays, in a one-hour format. The programme focused on the lives and work of one shift of police officers, rather than on any particular aspect of police work. The Bill was the longest-running police procedural television series in the United Kingdom, and among the longest running of any British television series at the time of its cancellation. The title originates from “Old Bill”, a slang term for the police. Although highly acclaimed by fans and critics, the series attracted controversy on several occasions. An episode broadcast in 2008 was criticised for featuring fictional treatment for multiple sclerosis. The series has also faced more general criticism concerning its levels of violence, particularly prior to 2009, when it occupied a pre-watershed slot. The Bill won several awards, including BAFTAs, a Writers' Guild of Great Britain award and Best Drama at the Inside Soap Awards in 2009, this being the series' fourth consecutive win. Throughout its twenty-seven-year run, the programme was always broadcast on the main ITV network. In later years, episodes of the show were repeated on ITV3 on their week of broadcast. The series has also been repeated on other digital stations, including Gold, Alibi, Watch, Dave and Drama. In March 2010, executives at ITV announced that the network did not intend to recommission The Bill, and that filming on the series would cease on 14 June 2010. The last episode aired on 31 August 2010.

Bureau Kruislaan - Themes and title sequences - Netflix

The pilot episode of the series, “Woodentop”, featured a short theme composed by Mike Westergaard. The theme was used specifically for the episode and was never used at any time during the main series. The title sequence for the episode consisted simply of the word 'Woodentop' being spelt out letter by letter, as if someone was writing it on a typewriter. The first ever opening sequence of The Bill was first seen in the episode “Funny Ol' Business – Cops & Robbers”. The sequence consisted of two police officers, one male and one female, walking down a street, whilst images of Sun Hill were interspersed between them. This sequence was used for the first series only. It featured the first version of the series iconic theme tune, “Overkill”, composed by Charlie Morgan and Andy Pask. The theme is notable for its use of septuple meter. The end titles of the series simply showed the feet of the two police constables pounding the beat. In the second series of the show, the opening sequence consisted of a police car, a Rover SD1, racing down a street with its siren wailing and its blue flashing light on. The car would screech to a stop, and the camera would zoom in on the blue light. Various clips were then shown from the series of the characters in action, often chasing suspects. This sequence kept the first version of “Overkill”, and also used the same ending credits from series one. This sequence was also used in the third series. From the fourth series onwards, the opening sequence was kept generally the same; however, clips from the series used were regularly updated to remove departed characters and keep to date with the show's events. Minor changes to the sequence included the Rover SD1 changing into a Ford Sierra in 1993, which was replaced by a Vauxhall Vectra in 1997. In the 1997 sequence, the Vectra was seen overtaking a Leyland Titan bus, before screeching to a halt, and the main sequence starting. The end credits for the series remained the same, but a new version of “Overkill” was used, also composed by Andy Pask and Charlie Morgan. On 6 January 1998, starting with “Hard Cash”, the third episode of the show's fourteenth series, the title sequence and theme used for nearly ten years were scrapped. This time, the title sequence consisted of various police procedural images, including a suspect being shown into a police cell, another suspect being interviewed, and a third posing for mug shot photographs. Clips of any of the actors featured were removed, as was the initial sequence involving the police car racing down the street. Pask and Morgan revamped “Overkill”, giving it a jazz feel, with the majority of the theme played by a saxophone. The end credits of the series were also completely revamped. This time, the credits featured various images of the Metropolitan Police uniform, combined with images of a feet tapping on a kerb. A longer version of “Overkill” was also used in the final credits, this time composed by Mark Russell. These opening and closing sequences were used for nearly three years, although both saw minor updates in 1999. The text sequence at the very start of the opening sequence was changed into a different font, and the images of the police uniform and feet tapping on a curb were removed from the closing sequence to make way for a preview of the next episode. The closing sequence remained this way until 2001, but the opening titles were once again updated in 2000 to remove certain images from the sequence to make it shorter. It is also noted that during this period, a 'previously on The Bill' segment was aired before the title sequence, to inform views what had occurred in the last episode. On 20 February 2001, starting with “Going Under”, the fourteenth episode of the show's seventeenth series, the opening and closing sequences were once again scrapped to make way for a completely new sequence and theme. This time, the opening sequence consisted of a montage image of the entire cast, backed by a darker, slower version of “Overkill”. The closing credits featured a montage of various police-related images, also backed by the new version of “Overkill”. The opening sequence was designed by the visuals company “Blue”, and the new arrangement of “Overkill” was produced by Miles Bould and Mike Westergaard. These titles remained essentially the same for two years, with two small updates. The font used on the closing credits was changed towards the end of 2001, and the characters featured in the opening sequence were updated in 2002, to remove characters who had departed, and include new characters. These titles were broadcast from Episode No. 017, and are notable as several of the characters in these titles had not yet appeared in the show. DS Samantha Nixon appeared in the titles from Episode No. 017, but did not first appear until Episode No. 038, some four months later. On 13 February 2003, starting with Episode No. 090, the opening and closing sequences were once again updated. This time, the opening sequence consisted of several generic police images, such as a police car and uniform. A new arrangement of “Overkill”, made by Lawrence Oakley, was also used for both the opening and closing sequences. The background of the closing sequence, designed by company “Roisin at Blue”, was simply a police shade of blue, with all generic images being removed. Throughout its four-year use, these titles were never updated or changed, with the exception of the police shade of blue, which was changed to a dark shade of black in 2006. On 3 January 2007, starting with Episode No. 471, the opening and closing sequences were once again changed. This time, the opening sequence, for the first time, features an image of the “Sun Hill” sign, and returns to featuring images of officers in action. This sequence also featured a further new arrangement of “Overkill”, once again arranged by Lawrence Oakley. This time, the closing sequence follows a police car on patrol, watching it as it drives through the streets of Sun Hill. These titles were used for nearly two and a half years. On 23 July 2009, after the programme underwent a major overhaul, the opening sequence and theme were heavily changed. This time, the classic “Overkill” theme was completely removed, and a new theme created by Simba Studios was used. However, producer Jonathan Young stated that echoes of “Overkill” can still be heard in the theme. The opening sequence featured a patrol car driving through the streets of Sun Hill. The closing sequence follows the same patrol car, however, this time, from an overhead view. These titles remained the same until the show's final episode, where the theme tune was replaced by a final version of “Overkill”, in homage to the show.

Deadline - Rampage (2018 film) - Netflix

Rampage is a 2018 American science fiction monster film directed by Brad Peyton, and loosely based on the video game series of the same name by Midway Games. The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It follows a primatologist named Davis Okoye who must team up with George, an albino gorilla who turns into a raging creature of enormous size as a result of a rogue experiment, to stop two other mutated animals from destroying Chicago. It is the third collaboration between Peyton and Johnson, following Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012) and San Andreas (2015). Principal photography began in April 2017 in Chicago. The film was released in the United States on April 13, 2018, by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema, in 2D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D formats. It has grossed nearly $423 million worldwide. It received mixed reviews from critics, with praise for Johnson and Morgan's performances and the visual effects, but criticism of the screenplay and storyline. It is the all-time best reviewed film based on a video game, currently sitting at 52% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Deadline - Visual effects - Netflix

The visual effects were primarily provided by Weta Digital. Effects supervisor Erik Winquist and a small crew travelled to Chicago to create a better model of the Chicago Loop that would be destroyed in the climactic battle, learning the building materials and architecture styles. Up to 15,000 photographs were taken with 3D scanners, while motion cameras covered downtown Chicago. As reference for the building destruction, the artists studied both the World Trade Center attacks and implosions of buildings affected by the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake in Weta's hometown of Wellington. One of the more challenging aspects for Weta was figuring out how the weight and mass of the monsters would affect the city environment and destruction. Given Weta had plenty of experience creating animated apes in King Kong and Rise of the Planet of the Apes and its sequels Dawn and War, it helped the studio create George “in a much shorter time than it may have 10 years ago,” according to Winquist. Motion capture coach Terry Notary even took a break from Avengers: Infinity War, which was also filmed in Atlanta, to help Jason Liles in his performance as George. On the other hand, the lack of motion capture for Ralph and Lizzie let the animators go loose with how these monsters were portrayed, such as “a wolf that has porcupine spines and wings”.

Kijken in de ziel - Dutch language - Netflix

The Dutch language ( Nederlands ) is a West Germanic language, spoken by around 23 million people as a first language (including the population of the Netherlands where it is the official language, and about sixty percent of Belgium where it is one of the three official languages) and by another 5 million as a second language. It is the third most widely spoken Germanic language, after English and German. Outside the Low Countries, it is the native language of the majority of the population of Suriname where it also holds an official status, as it does in Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten, which are constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands located in the Caribbean. Historical minorities on the verge of extinction remain in parts of France and Germany, and in Indonesia, while up to half a million native speakers may reside in the United States, Canada and Australia combined. The Cape Dutch dialects of Southern Africa have evolved into Afrikaans, a mutually intelligible daughter language which is spoken to some degree by at least 16 million people, mainly in South Africa and Namibia. Dutch is one of the closest relatives of both German and English and is colloquially said to be “roughly in between” them. Dutch, like English, has not undergone the High German consonant shift, does not use Germanic umlaut as a grammatical marker, has largely abandoned the use of the subjunctive, and has levelled much of its morphology, including most of its case system. Features shared with German include the survival of two to three grammatical genders—albeit with few grammatical consequences—as well as the use of modal particles, final-obstruent devoicing, and a similar word order. Dutch vocabulary is mostly Germanic and incorporates slightly more Romance loans than German but far fewer than English.

Kijken in de ziel - Name - Netflix

In both Belgium and the Netherlands, the native official name for Dutch is Nederlands. Sometimes Vlaams (“Flemish”) is used as well to describe Standard Dutch in Flanders. Over time, the Dutch language has been known under a variety of names. In Middle Dutch Dietsc, Duutsc or Duitsc was used. It derived from the Old Germanic word theudisk, which literally means “popular” or “belonging to the populace”. In Western Europe this term was used for the language of the local Germanic populace as opposed to Latin, the non-native language of writing and the Catholic Church. In the first text in which it is found, dating from 784, theodisce refers to Anglo-Saxon, the West Germanic dialects of Britain. Although in Britain the name Englisc replaced theodisce early on, speakers of West Germanic in other parts of Europe continued to use theodisce to refer to their local speech. With the rise of local powers in the Low Countries during the Middle Ages, language names derived from these local polities came in use as well i.e.Vlaemsch, Hollandsch and Brabantsch. The more powerful the local polity, the wider the use of its name for the language became. These names still survive in the corresponding dialect groups spoken today. Owing to commercial and colonial rivalry in the 16th and 17th centuries between England and the Low Countries, a cognate of theodisk (most likely Middle Dutch Duutsc) was borrowed into English and developed into the exonym Dutch, which came to refer exclusively to the people of the Netherlands. (A usage of the English term Dutch that includes German survives in the United States in the name Pennsylvania Dutch for a local German dialect and its speakers, commonly believed to be a corruption of their endonym Deitsch.) In the Low Countries on the contrary, Dietsch or Duytsch as endonym for Dutch went out of common use and was gradually replaced by the Dutch endonym Nederlands. This designation started at the Burgundian court in the 15th century, although the use of neder, laag, bas and inferior (“nether” or “low”) to refer to the area known as the Low Counties goes back further in time. The Romans referred to the region as Germania Inferior (“Lower” Germania). It is a reference to the Low Countries' downriver location at the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta near the North Sea. The designation Nederlands received since 1551 strong competition from the name Nederduits (“Low Dutch;” Dutch is used here in its archaic sense that covers all continental West Germanic languages). It is a calque of the before mentioned Roman province Germania Inferior and an attempt by early Dutch grammarians to give their language more prestige by linking it to Roman times. Likewise, Hoogduits (“High Dutch”) came into use as a Dutch exonym for the German language, spoken in neighboring German states. However, 19th century Germany saw the rise of the categorisation of dialects, and German dialectologists termed the German dialects spoken in the mountainous south of Germany as Hochdeutsch (“High German”). Subsequently, German dialects spoken in the north were designated as Niederdeutsch (“Low German”). The names for these dialects were calqued in the Dutch language area as the exonyms Nederduits and Hoogduits. As a result, Nederduits no longer served as a synonym for the Dutch language, and Nederlands prevailed as sole Dutch endonym. It also meant that Hoog (“High”) had to be dropped in one of the two meanings of Hoogduits, leading to the narrowing down of Duits as Dutch exonym for the German language, and Hoogduits as reference for southern German dialects.

Telefacts - Litchfield Towers - Netflix

Litchfield Towers, commonly referred to on campus as “Towers”, is a complex of residence halls at the University of Pittsburgh's main campus in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Litchfield Towers is both the largest and tallest residence hall at the University of Pittsburgh, housing approximately 1,850 students. Designed by the architectural firm of Deeter & Ritchey, the complex was completed in 1963 and was named for former chancellor Edward Litchfield following his death in an airplane crash in 1968. The complex consists of three towers, which during construction were designated A, B, and C in the architectural plans. The names stuck after the towers were completed, and the towers are still so named today. Towers A, B, and C house mostly first-year freshmen. The towers are all of different heights, and differ slightly in their living accommodations. Tower B is the tallest of the three, at 22 stories. Tower A is 19 stories tall, and Tower C is 16 stories in height. Rooms in Towers A and B are the same size, roughly 17 ft (5.2 m) by 11 ft (3.4 m). These measurements are not exact, however, because the three towers are cylindrical in shape (although actually twenty-sided) and the rooms themselves are therefore somewhat trapezoidal.

Telefacts - History - Netflix

The original proposal for the “unusual skyscraper dormitory” complex, designed by Dahlen Ritchey of the architectural firm of Deeter & Ritchey, was unveiled in June, 1960 and called for three towers to contain living quarters with unobstructed views for 1,868 male students. The towers were preliminarily designated as A, B, and C, with undergraduates to occupy tower A and B and graduate students tower C. The towers would rise from a three story base that included a dining room accommodating 14,000 students, serving men from the towers and women from the nearby Schenley Quadrangle residences, as well a parking garage in its bottom level. Construction was initially delayed a year due to perceived high expense, but the dormitories opened in September, 1963 at a cost of $14 million with initially 1,150 residents filling approximately two-thirds of the spaces. The reference to the three towers as A, B, and C, which originated in their designs, remains to this day, although from their inception, the towers have been designated with unofficial nicknames reflecting the similarity of their shape to the canister packaging of the coinciding to the commercial cleansing products Ajax, Bab-O, and Comet. Due to the obscurity of Bab-O cleanser in more recent years, Tower B has often been referred to by the nicknames Bon Ami and Bounty. Collectively, the dorms were at first simply referred to by the university as the Tower Residence Halls. In 1971, the university formally named the complex Litchfield Towers in honor of Edward Litchfield who had served as Pitt's chancellor during their construction and subsequently died in a tragic 1968 airplane crash.

In 2016, a new era for FaZe began when the organization bought a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professional team. This moment marked the beginning of FaZe Clan expanding into various esports. This movement is referred to as “FaZe 2.0” by FaZe members and fans. The FaZe CS:GO team went on to become one of the most successful roster for the 2017/2018 seasons. FaZe Clan is the most popular eSports organization in the world, based on the organization's social media following. As of June 23th, 2018, FaZe Clan have 69.2 million YouTube subscribers, 9.6 billion YouTube views, 5.2 million Twitch followers, 46.1 million Twitch views, 40.1 million Twitter followers, 34.9 Instagram followers, 2.5 million Facebook likes and followers.

Jonnie Boer (born January 9, 1965 in Giethoorn) is a Dutch Michelin star winning head chef and co-owner of the restaurant De Librije in Zwolle, Netherlands. Together with his wife and business partner Thérèse Boer he runs the 3-starred De Librije (in 16th century monastery library building) and Librije's Winkel (cooking shop) They also own Librije's Hotel and Librije's Atelier (cook- and wine school), all located in a former women prison. In 1989 Boer became head chef at De Librije. In 1992 he and his wife bought the restaurant. Michelin awarded the first star in 1993. Five years later Michelin awarded Jonnie Boer his second star. In 2004 Boer was awarded his third star. Jonnie Boer uses nature as his source of inspiration to develop new dishes, but also as basis of his cooking.

Gort à la Carte - Controversy - Netflix

In February 2011 the local paper De Stentor reported that Jonnie Boer was in financial trouble. Fact was that the Librije Group was hit by the economic recession and had to cut costs. The firebrand sale at order from the banks of restaurant Koperen Kees was nonsense, according to Jonnie Boer. Boer claimed that the sale of Koperen Kees was one of priorities, the theater-formula not fitting with the philosophy of the rest of the Librije Group. Sander Dol became the new owner.

Femke Halsema ( pronunciation ; born 25 April 1966) is a Dutch politician. On 27 June 2018 she was elected Mayor of Amsterdam and is set to begin serving a six-year term on 19 July 2018. She will be the first woman holding the position. She previously was a member of the House of Representatives for GroenLinks from 1998 to 2011, and served as its parliamentary leader from 2002 to 2010.

De Fractie - Career before politics - Netflix

Halsema was born in Haarlem in a Dutch social democratic family. For a long time, her mother Olga Halsema-Fles was an alderwoman responsible for social affairs and employment for the Labour Party in Enschede. Her mother is of Jewish descent. In 1983, Halsema graduated from the Kottenpark-college in Enschede with a Havo-diploma. Between 1984 and 1985 she attended the Vrije Hogeschool (teachers program for Waldorf schools) in Driebergen. In 1985 she started training as a Dutch and history teacher in Utrecht. In 1988 she left her training without graduating. After that she worked for a year in an Utrecht café. She then started studying general social sciences at Utrecht University, specialising in criminology. During these studies she had a number of jobs related to her specialisation. Between 1991 and 1993 she was an intern at the working group “police and immigrants” at the Ministry of the Interior and she was a student assistant for professor Frank Bovenkerk. In 1992 she worked as an “supernumerary lecturer in scientific methods and techniques” at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Utrecht University, teaching statistics to first year students. After Halsema graduated in 1993, she joined the staff of the Wiardi Beckman Stichting (WBS), the research institute of the Labour Party. She was seen as a rising talent in the Labour Party. In 1995 she published the book Ontspoord. Opstellen over criminaliteit & rechtshandhaving (“Derailed, essays about crime and law enforcement”) for the WBS. In 1996 she travelled through the United States as a fellow for the German Marshall Fund. In 1996 she became an editor for the De Helling, the magazine of the research institute of GroenLinks. In the same year, she started combining her work at the WBS with work for De Balie, a political and cultural centre in Amsterdam, where she met Kees Vendrik, who before that worked for the GroenLinks in the House of Representatives. For De Balie she led the project Res Publica about the meaning of the Constitution of the Netherlands for the modern society. She also joined the programme committee of the Labour Party for the 1998 election. She also published the book Land in zicht: een cultuurpolitieke benadering van de Ruimtelijke Ordening (“Land ho, cultural-political essays about spatial planning”) with Maarten Hajer. She was asked to be a candidate for the Labour Party in the 1998 election. In the autumn of 1997, Halsema left the Labour Party and the WBS. The direct cause was the rigorous way in which the police had handled the protests against the European summit that was working on the Treaty of Amsterdam. The social democratic mayor Schelto Patijn put 500 people in preventive detention. Her dissatisfaction with the course of the Labour Party had grown. In her view the party was unable to renew its social democratic manifesto and use the economic tide to invest in the public sector After leaving the WBS, she continued to work at De Balie and also was a columnist at Het Parool and for IKON radio. She also works as an editor at the publisher Van Gennep.

New Kids - New Kids on the Block (album) - Netflix

New Kids on the Block is the debut studio album from American pop boy band New Kids on the Block. Released in the spring of 1986, its very bubble-gum, pseudo early Osmonds/New Edition-esque stylings failed to garner any attention. In August 1989, during the success of their second album, Hangin' Tough, Columbia Records released the New Kids on the Block track “Didn't I (Blow Your Mind)” as a single, in an attempt to bring this album to the attention of the group's growing fanbase. The ploy worked, and albums sales spiked, causing it to be released outside the United States around the same time. Subsequently, the New Kids on the Block album would eventually be certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA; peaking at number 25 on the US Billboard 200.

Cordon - Grand Marnier - Netflix

Grand Marnier (French pronunciation: [ɡʁɑ̃ maʁnje]) Cordon Rouge is an orange-flavored liqueur created in 1880 by Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle. It is made from a blend of Cognac brandy, distilled essence of bitter orange, and sugar. Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge is 40% alcohol (70 proof in UK, 80 proof in US). Aside from Cordon Rouge, the Grand Marnier line includes other liqueurs, most of which can be consumed “neat” as a cordial or a digestif, and can be used in mixed drinks and desserts. In France this kind of use is the most popular, especially with Crêpes Suzette and “crêpes au Grand Marnier”. César Ritz (1850–1918) reportedly came up with the name “Grand Marnier” for Marnier-Lapostolle, who in return helped him purchase and establish the Hotel Ritz Paris. On March 15, 2016, the Campari Group announced the launch of a friendly takeover offer for Société des Produits Marnier Lapostolle S.A., owner of Grand Marnier.
